ST. PAUL (WCCO) — A new web ad from Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kurt Bills, who is challenging Sen. Amy Klobuchar, is causing a lot of controversy.

The ad mimics a famous ad by the late Democratic Senator Paul Wellstone, which is enraging Democrats.

The late Wellstone, who died in a plane crash, is an iconic figure among Democrats. His 1990 ad was called “Fast Paced Paul,” featuring a then-unknown college professor running for the U.S. Senate.

The Bills ad is called “Quick Kurt” and it replicates every scene from the Wellstone ad.

The liberal Paul Wellstone and the conservative Kurt Bills could hardly be more different, but Bills says they have a lot in common.

Well that sucks. I tried donating on his website using a couple different credit cards and none will go through and just get a generic error message with no actual details. oh well.

Yeah I had a couple problems at first too. I couldn't get the screen to change to accept a credit card, then it did and allowed me to put in the numbers, but after I submitted it, it said "denied" which I know wasn't right, but then I checked my email and I got a confirmation that it went through.

The site obviously has some small problems, but it will go through. Hopefully they fix that

Ok, so it worked this morning. I didn't hear back from my email I sent them yesterday though. :(
