Big GOP Donors Shun Rand Paul

We should start running personal attack ads against the donors themselves. Maybe that would make them a little less enthused to stick their slimy noses in the race.

Rand should seek commitments from independents and non-traditional republican voters to register republican and "Stand with Rand" in the primaries.

Lol, so they interview a few Lindsey graham donors and obvious folk that would never fund Randal and conclude that no "traditional" wealthy fat cats will support him. Hell they didn't even bother talking to the Koch types. An attempt at a hit piece that comes off as more of a self help support piece for butthurt neocons.

If you have several passionate upper middle class people backing your campaign it can be done. Give me a handful of those versus shady NY bankers any day. It will be a dirty election for sure. Like like all 17 candidates plus many GOP insiders will stop at nothing to sabotage Rand is what I got from that article.

Grassroots will just have to dig deeper.

Rather, Paul will have to get big donors. Grassroots money is very miniscule compared to big donors and every time some money bomb isn't in the stratosphere, fingers are pointed every which way. Grassroots have lives outside of donating to candidates they support and their number one priority should be their lives, not digging deeper and putting off things like food or rent just so they can have the satisfaction of knowing that the Rand Paul campaign thanked them for their donation. The burden of finding donors with deep wallets ought to fall to the campaign.

it's very much early days yet... Ron's money came late. I remember the debates over whether he had enough time to spend it and make an impact. As we get closer donors small and large will start opening their wallets. No need to worry.

I know there are arguments about how important big money is, and I capitulate that fact. However the majority of America, especially the crossover votes Rand is seeking in the typically democrat voters such as minorities and especially in independants, are dead set against big money in politics. With Rand not being connected with these big money voters, it could very well work in his favor to attract those voters. In their eyes he is uninfluenced by big money. Something to consider in his over all strategy.

I think Paul should start going after non-traditional GOP donors, as well. Start attacking Hillary on her turf.

She's going after bankers - Rand should go after her moneyed flank.

Any body know if guys like Larry Lepard are on board with Rand this go around?

Rand got a windfall in free advertising from the latest fili-staller alone. Everyone and everything political is talking about it, it distinguishes him from a field of two dozen significant candidates, and it will also help enormously in these vs.-HRC polls that so many seem to think are so important. Clip after clip of Rand making common-sense, all-American arguments on the evening news and all over cable - what would it cost to get that kind of exposure by paying for it?

Someone in the Rand camp understands that if you are the news you don't need to pay for all that much advertising to get your name and positions out there.

Question: Is there any reason to think Theye will not rig a primary to keep Rand Paul from the nomination, or the election itself to keep him out of office?

Whenever I start getting worried about this, I remember how Rand was able to win in Kentucky with the entire establishment against him. I think sometimes we may over-estimate how much control they have over the process.

When your stated goal is to Defeat the Washington Machine, then it is unlikely that said machine will want to fund your campaign. I don't see a problem. In fact I think this confirms who Rand is standing for.

yeah, seems he should take some of these quotes and put them into his campaign commercials
