As Gas Prices Spike 40 Percent Under Biden, These Hollywood Celebrities Are Pushing Him to Shut Down More Pipelines

Left-wing Hollywood stars including Mark Ruffalo, Jane Fonda, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ed Helms, Danny Glover, and Rosanna Arquette are putting pressure on President Joe Biden to shut down the Enbridge Line 3 oil sands pipeline — as well as all “fossil fuel infrastructure expansion” — claiming it represents an “attack” on the climate and indigenous rights.

Their demands come as gas prices are spiking around the country, rising nearly 40 percent since Biden took office.

In a letter to Biden that was published by NBC News, more than 200 celebrities, Democratic donors, and activists demanded Biden “stop construction of Line 3 immediately.” They also told Biden he must “end the era of fossil fuel expansion decisively.” Among the letter’s other signatories are Amy Schumer, Joaquin Phoenix, and pop star Katy Perry.

Your presidency is a watershed in human history, the last chance to turn the tide before climate disruption spirals out of control. We worked hard for your election in part because you embraced that challenge as a defining strength of your candidacy. And we are encouraged and grateful that you clearly signaled your resolve by rejecting the Keystone XL pipeline on day 1. The “climate test” for the KXL decision was clear and compelling. We ask you to apply it now to the Enbridge Line 3 pipeline.

Mark Ruffalo added in a statement to NBC News:

“Many of us had high hopes — and high expectations — when President Biden said in his inaugural speech that the climate crisis is one of several crises profoundly challenging our country. We will be judged, you and I, for how we resolve the cascading crises of our era. I call upon the president and the Army Corps of Engineers to suspend and thoroughly review the permit for the Enbridge Line 3 pipeline, a massive project that would not only intensify the climate crisis, but violates the treaty rights of tribal nations.”

In a tweet, the Avengers star praised Biden for ending the Keystone XL pipeline in January, a decision that destroyed 1,000 jobs. “But he can’t stop there,” Ruffalo wrote. “Line 3, a tar sands pipeline on the same scale as KXL, is an attack on clean water, our climate & Indigenous rights.”

On his 1st day in office potuS put an end to #KXL but he can't stop there. Jane Fonda said she was “sickened” by Biden’s decision to allow Line 3 to proceed in a tweet last week.

I am sickened and deeply disappointed that President Biden has given the go-ahead to Enbridge Line 3 in Minnesota. This belies his promises on the campaign trail to follow science and stop new fossil fuel development and cut our carbon emissions in half by 2030. pic.twitter.com/u3gZUqlEtW

The Biden administration indicated in a court filing last month it won’t cancel federal permits for Enbridge’s Energy’s Line 3 pipeline. The pipeline, which carries oil from western Canada to Wisconsin, has become a contentious topic among activists who feel the president has betrayed his campaign promise to prioritize the environment.

But Biden is facing skyrocketing gas prices across the country, with prices soaring 40 percent since January.

As Breitbart News reported, gas prices across the U.S. are at their highest level since late 2014. In some cities, like Los Angeles, the price of gas hit a high of close to $6 a gallon.

In may, celebrities including DiCaprio, Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and Fonda were among the numerous Hollywood elites pushing for the closures of the Keystone XL and Dakota Access Pipelines — both of which former President Donald Trump tagged as vital components to energy independence. Their campaign campaign as the cyberattack on the Colonial Pipeline jacked up oil and gas prices.

Shut them all down! When food quits being delivered because it is no longer profitable the fuck-twits will riot and burn themselves down.

GOOD!

What could possibly go wrong?

*looks at price of gas and everything else the price of gas affects*

If these MFers are so worried why don't they just move to their underground bunkers and leave the rest of us alone...

Russia, China, and even third world countries are building more dams, more pipelines, etc. to feed their growing infrastructures. Right or wrong, for humanity to survive and live decently, these things are required.

By the way, this is straight up Agenda 21. De-industrialize the U.S. while all other countries can play catch up. It's happening right before our eyes.

Do you think any of those people care what a gallon of gas costs? $5 a gallon $50 a gallon it will not impact their lifestyles. Same with food, housing... it’s all immaterial to them.

I am into alternative energy I like studying about magnetism and hydrogen I have a couple solar panels. I believe there is something that could be used to power the world other than gas and coal. But I also believe that shutting down the fuel industry is wrong and it is hurting everyone. I have sold solar systems but I got out of it because I don't agree with how it is being done and I can see that is a rip off is not the way it should be done. I am pretty sure big oil has suppressed technology and for that I am not a big supporter of big oil. I am sure cars could be built that could get over 100miles per gallon and even more.

Gas should be cheap as hell but it is not. It's always gong to be about the money and I am sure there are a lot of bad actors playing both sides of the fence. The main goal is to keep the little guys face smashed into the dirt and it is happening.

People have been making this claim since the 70s.

VW was working on a true diesel/electric hybrid that could achieve over 250 mpg at a top speed of 100 mph.

This was a "true" hybrid, in that the drive train was all electric, the tiny, super efficient diesel did nothing but run a generator to charge the battery bank and power the propulsion motors when needed, eliminating the need to plug in and lengthy re-charge times.

This was technology based on what Siemens developed for diesel/electric railroad locomotives over 130 years ago, and is still in use today.

It worked, it was clean, it was affordable, it had all the performance and accessories that people demand.

The program got cut when Uncle Sucker demanded they cease all new ICE research and commit solely to EV work in the wake of the "diesel-gate" scandal.

Another car you can't have because of government.

A 1962 Ford Falcon got roughly 33 MPG when new.

60 years later a 2022 Honda Accord gets 43 MPG.

10 MPG more and some of that is gains made in the way the mileage was measured and under what load and speed.

In 60 years, this is the best we can do? Granted there have been some huge advances, which makes it even more ridiculous to throw out internal combustion heat engines, when we've got the technology pretty much dialed in perfectly.

It's not "big oil" screwing you, and me, it's big government that have made cars heavier, less fuel efficient, bogged down with layers of safety equipment, cumbersome, expensive and hard to repair, driving up costs and driving down efficiency.

In the armpit of America, aka Illinois I use 91-93 grade in everything I fuel. That's not a lot, just a vehicle and some mowing equipment. But I can say with authority, the price of premium hasn't changed but maybe a 15 cent jump right after the election. Now, the mid and low grades? Those prices jump up and down and all around, but premium has stayed the same price throughout. It's not about cost or value of the dollar, y'all are being straight up manipulated. But that's the same for every single solitary corner of your existence right now.
