Let Them Eat Lithium.

Left-wing CBS late-night host Stephen Colbert, who boasts a reported personal net worth of approximately $75 million, professes to being entirely untroubled by soaring U.S. gas prices, admitting he takes comfort in the fact he drives a Tesla.

On Monday night the electric car evangelist laid out just why he travels with a “clean conscience” as he commutes into Manhattan while others outside his elite struggle to fill their tanks just to go to work or carry their family around.

“Today, the average gas price in America hit an all-time record high of over $4/gallon. OK, that stings, but a clean conscience is worth a buck or two. It’s important. I’m willing to pay $4/gallon. Hell, I’ll pay $15 a gallon b/c I drive a Tesla,” Stephen Colbert said.

The fertilizer that grows your food doesn't drive a Tesla.

The truck that transports that food doesn't.

The train that moves the fertilizer doesn't.

The ship that brings everything else to your sorry ass from Communist China does not.

Colbert appears to be on the distribution list for the Biden admin's talking-points memos.

There's not even a "quiet part" here. They're just straight up saying it:

The sanctions are bs. The situation is reversed actually. We cut off Japan from fuel. Russia produces most of the fuel for europe. So read the fine print in these sanctions and see it is "certian" Russian banks that are sanctioned. Not the ones that receive the energy payments. Putin has NATO and the EU by the short hairs and they know it. The rest is political theater. Like Biden banning Russian fuel imports. We only get 3 percent from Russia. They are lying to you to raise gas prices and make record profits.

and force us to EV vehicles and the like. Never let a crisis go to waste.

Just think of it as a really high tariff.

You supported those, right? To make us less dependent on foreign resources?

We were not dependent on foreign sources.

Biden's actions, combined with global geo-political events, reduced supply, which increased prices. The opposite of "negative" value oil we saw briefly in the first months of scamdemic lockdown.

If it takes tariffs to promote domestic production of necessary goods, then so be.

All our domestic energy needs can be met at a reasonable price with domestic production without tariffs, which is the goal.

Wait until the collapse that comes when the Chinese embargo us for supporting Taiwan when they invade, since we make almost no consumer manufactured items anymore.

Electric everything is the solution. Electricity is cheap and renewable. All a person needs to do is go to harbor freight and get a long extension cord. Make sure to get the one that has a place to plug in 3 things. The reason for the long cord is because you want to make a loop and plug the male end into one of the 3 female plugs. This is incredibly easy and the amazing thing is it still leaves room to plug in two other devices! Clean Free energy.

Fascinating, considering that the reduction of supply happened in 2020.

Oops, you seem to have forgotten what happened in 2020.

And, yeah, pulling permits and banning drilling on federal land (which basically shut down drilling in NM, or about 1/3 of the Permian... you do know what the Permian is, right?) had NO effect on supply.

My goodness you're simple. Stay in your lane.

So, will the stock price go up, or will my dividends increase? Or are some shareholders more equal than others?

You would think both will go up. But the oil companies will probably just find some loophole to screw their shareholders and give out executive bonuses for the record profits.
