Bentivolio's brother

Kerry says that it's his brother who has “serious mental issues”. And it looks like this unstable brother was trying to blackmail Kerry.

Now which one has had more scrutiny to this point Kerry, or his brother? Another last minute smear campaign. How much did the "media" research this before putting it out?

It says right in the article that the brother admits to trying to blackmail him. lol "give me money or ill go to the media"

Sounds like a lot of complaining from the brother...hope this doesn't change the race at all.

I haven't followed Bentivolio. I'm suspect of their whole family now. Anyone have any vids of him speaking I can watch?

And they run with a headline and opening paragraphs that says that it is Kerry who is "unbalanced".

Constituent services and fundraising. Like a laser. He needs to spend the next year shaking hands and answering phone calls and writing nice recommendation letters. And he needs to hire some experienced staffing. Or else he'll go down in 2 years.

Here's him speaking at the recent Ryan Rally

He's not exactly Rand Paul when it comes down to speaking professionally in public or on tv but the guy is an average citizen trying to be a representative. I'd venture to guess that many of the people we'll put up in the future for office won't have the initial savvy to speak from the cuff eloquently but given time, will do better.

As far as how this man has been presented by the media in the minds of some voters and onlookers from the outside, I can say the guy is as regular as you get. I've talked to him on many occasions and he is dead set on representing the interests of the 11th district with a commitment to preserving liberty. He's not a fan of the lime light and really doesn't like to take credit for his successes, yet always thanks his supporters as the reason for the season. The difference I see in him vs many of the other candidates I've met at conventions or meetings is that he will actually treat you like a fellow citizen instead of merely shaking your hand with a slick grin and moving on to the next. He will just hang out and enjoy everyone. I've felt treated differently by many candidates or party officials because of my delegate status than I've seen other random people get treated by the same. You don't get special treatment with Kerry cause everyone's the same to him.

How misleading your OP is, the guy says 'if he goes into the House I'm sure he'll end up in jail' or words to that effect, implying he would do something THERE, not that he had. Also, thread titles show up as headlines in google so yours was unhelpful.

Are you agitating against Kerry?

How sad this story is, it sounds like he tried to blackmail Kerry then went to the press over money just before the election. That sounds like he hates his brother, or in fact is unbalanced, to me.

No, I'm not agitating against Kerry. This popped up on my twitter feed through politico and I found it interesting to see that his brother thinks he's such a screwball that he could end up in jail. Personally, I think the brother has sour grapes over something that is meaningless.

I agree. But meeting with the guy and seeing his progress thus far, I think he'll be able to weather the storm within the next two years. He'll become better at public speaking, and I feel that he is likeable and his constituents will like what they see from him if/when he's elected. Thank God he's going up against a guy like Taj

He'll definitely get primaryed. Not necessarily because people back home don't like him, more so because , in a way, they never had a GOP primary in 2012. IMO he needs to spin most, if not all, of his actions the next two years as being anti-Obama. If he can show Republicans back home that he is 'standing up to the liberal Obama agenda,' then he might be able to prevent a primary challenge.

Is he still planning on doing the Amash thing and posting his votes online? If so, that could help him become less of a mystery to his constituents.

The hardest thing will be keeping Kerry in office. He needs to raise funds and make friends because he's sure to get a primary from the sore losers like Cassis.

Or his brother...what a scary fight that would be. Imagine running against your own brother. I hope the establishment doesn't steep to such a big low in getting Bentivolio's brother to run against him.
