Bentivolio: GOP scrambling to find new candidate

Oakland County Republicans who held a closed meeting Wednesday morning in Troy to ponder the open congressional seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter describe it as a friendly discussion with nothing decided.

They're kicking around whether to back the remaining Republican on the Aug. 7 primary ballot, Kerry Bentivolio of Milford, or candidates who might launch write-in campaigns for the GOP nomination.

"A bunch of people got together and we talked," said Oakland County Republican Party Chairman Jim Thienel. "That's it for now."

However, he added, "It's going to be very interesting in the next couple of days."

These people need to stay OUT of the primary process !!!

I'd really like to see Rand talk to Bentivolio and if he likes him ride in and throw his support behind him publically. Get in there and plant the tea party flag by one of its standards bearer.

It makes no sense. If you read the article, he goes on to say that the party doesn't actually back candidates in the primaries.

Amash needs to actually go to the district and hold an event. Yeah he would catch hell, but if we can pick up a seat it would be worth it.
