RPPCC Still had $5+ MILLION on hand as of 3/31.

Here's a breakdown of how the $600K of "expenses" (categories over $10K) was spent in MARCH:

Salaries......................................... 89,190.0700
WEB DESIGN/HOSTING/MAINT......................... 84,747.5500
Reimbursement Expenses........................... 77,587.0800
Payroll Tax Expense.............................. 74,863.5800
Credit Card Contributions Processing Fee......... 60,975.4500
Freight/Shipping Expenses........................ 46,612.4600
Rent Expense..................................... 28,552.5700
Credit Card Payment.............................. 24,805.2900
Telephone Expense................................ 22,367.4500
Airline Travel................................... 17,828.8900
1120-POL Federal Taxes........................... 17,174.0000
Petition Coordination............................ 15,558.2900
Consulting-Political Field Work.................. 13,250.0000
Telecommunications............................... 12,700.4200
Travel-Hotel Accomodations....................... 11,864.1700
Campaign Shirts.................................. 11,301.8300

Note that fact that we're getting down to what "really matters" here ...no events, NO advertising (but 11 grand on Shirts? What is this campaign-staff souvenir city?) -- only thing that matters anymore is continuing to pay the "core staff" (because of the superb job they have done and continue to do) while waiting for... well who knows what... maybe Godot?

Back in March (after the Feb FEC data was released) I said that I: "can't imagine how it would even be possible for March expenses have been more than $500K." Well, it looks like the staff has a better imagination than me... they managed to come up with innovative ways to piss away OVER $600K ...while do absolutely ZERO actual campaigning.

But... fortunately for them, there were still enough people donating ($123K worth) + the $5M invested in a wonderful "high yield" saving account (earning maybe 1% APR -- W00T!) ...which means they still ended the month of March sitting on a cool $5 MILLION (as predicted).

Also as predicted, the only remaining staff are Snyder, Moore & Co... still drawing the same kinds of salaries, and amazingly enough, still managing the campaign's "expenses" (aka "perks") via "reimbursements" in the same old way, gotta love the consistency even if there are no tangible results.

New Question of the day is: Will there be anything LEFT to start the Seldonesque Empire-saving edumacational-political-inaction-committee "foundation" thingee on the Caribbean Island of Terminus (?) Or in other words: "How much will they manage top piss away in the month of APRIL?" ...Tune in again next month (around May 20th) to this same "bat-shit-crazy channel" and we'll see!

...til then!

WEB DESIGN/HOSTING/MAINT......................... 84,747.5500

wtf $84,000 for web design and hosting and maintenance. Even if they have 2 dedicated server at $300 per month, web design is one time deal and prob around 10-15k (fine throw in $200 per month too), server maintenance can be done for $100 per month/server. It should be around 1k per month total. Sorry but I know something about hosting/design and this sounds like pure bullshit to me. Even 1k per month is too much for a site that is not getting that much traffic anymore. why the hell did they pay $84,747 for something that should cost them around $1000-$2000?????

http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/ronpaul2008.com

I think whoever is doing hosting, design is ripping off the campaign big time.

I might have some insight into the web expenses based on interactions with the company that did the web design...not sure if they also did the hosting but I am doing further research and will post my information...

I didnt give all that money I didnt have to RP to have it spent on salaries and T-shirts for incompetent staff. I gave it to have them SPEND it to get him elected. They didnt spend it on what they should have, and now what little they are spending on is still crap that isnt going to get anyone elected.

Plus 80k for website maintenance seems high, unless he is paying some kind of retroactive commission to the guys who wrote his code...

My level of dissatisfaction with the campaign itself grows as time passes.

This really comes down to a failure of RPs policy of hiring true believers as opposed to hiring professionals, IMHO.

He got his shot. Its time to make him into our modern Goldwater and find our Reagan.

until someone calls them and asks them what they intend to spend it on... you're wasting your time whining

How much does it cost for someone to answer emails? Does production of his web casts count in that? Does maintaining his facebook, myspace, and meetup group fees count in that? There is a lot more in maintaining a website than what you just listed.

I agree, but even if we do find our "Reagan" he won't stand a chance given the current politicians in the House. Let's prep the government to be receptive to our "Reagan" by supporting other conservative Congressional candidates. See my signature for a couple suggestions.

Well, they are running a decent radio ad in Pennsylvania now. Since it costs $600,000 a month to operate the campaign, they can't spend all of their money on ads if they want to help out delegates and challenge rulings, etc. And yes, they probably do want to save as much as possible, so they can transfer the remaining money to his PAC, which would give to liberty candidates or be used to educate people or something.

Please point out where the Paul campaign is challenging rulings, helping delegates, and helping local candidates now when they need the money for their primary campaigns. I haven't seen any articles or press releases about the campaign doing any of this recently and haven't seen any indication of this type of work in the FEC filings.

I honestly don't think they're saving the money to use for other candidates since many of them need the money NOW. I don't think they're saving it for educational purposes otherwise they would have started that NOW when it could be effective (i.e. while people are still voting). So.. why are they saving it? It's a good question. They know the answer and we don't.

Though I do not believe the HQ has done a phenomenal job, far from it. We do not know what goes on behind closed doors, nor do we know what Ron Paul has planned. The money was not donated for, nor should it be expected to be used for, "helping delegates, and helping local candidates now when they need the money for their primary campaigns". This has nanny state thinking written all over it. The only help he can give those candidates, would be an endorsement. Quite honestly, I would question the legality of giving monies donated to his Presidential bid, to candidates for their government bids.

Once again, all you that complain they are sitting on the money, my argument would be, perhaps they have no choice? Seeing as how we have yet to hit the goal of revenue they asked for, back in January?! If they had received what they had asked for, and were sitting on say $10+ million, I would agree with you. However, as it is, they are sitting at -$3 million from where they wanted to be. Ever think maybe RP knows what it will costs to go all the way, and realizes he has to be frugal now, in order to go the distance?

I feel like this whole forum has been taken over by the Dept. of Homeland Security. So many posters with negativity trying to convince the rest of us that all our dreams have been dashed.

Fuck that and fuck you. Ron Paul will still be there when it comes out that McCain is ineligible to be the President. Sorry to spoil your plans for an easy Democratic Candidate win.

again. Fuck you. I support Ron Paul because I CHOOSE TO.

The official campaign staff does not have a plan. They are soliciting suggestions quietly on what to do with the money.

It is, if done properly, legal to transfer the money to other candidates.

They are not, and have never been, planning on "going the distance."

Then, IMHO, there is really only ONE ethical thing for them to do with the money, and that is to refund it to every single person who donated in the past 3 months. (Which, BTW, would NOT include sending me even a penny, as I joined the 2300 club back in October of 2007).

IMHO those of us who donated back in 2007 F'd ourselves... but the people who donated in 2008 were plainly and clearly the subjects of fraud.

If the internet stuff includes campaign updates &c, it could cost some more from production costs. And if the TV stations don't want to their content on Youtube, some videos could have licensing fees associated.
