AP: "In GOP race, Romney, Perry, Paul are the money men"

That's the same way they talk about the influence buyers. There's no mention of 'these are little guys', or 'his supporters are sending nickles and dimes, but there are a lot of them,' or 'these are people not corporations,' or anything of the sort.

And after this EOQP and BTO multimillion dollar moneybomb they will be further behind.

Actually, they are saying in some of these that Cain is making a ton of money since the straw poll, 'several hundred thousands a day' per his campaign. He is also meeting with Koch and Trump, and they aren't saying what his numbers are like any more. So I'm concerned about him.

We'll see in a couple of weeks, I guess.

I wonder if Cain is suddenly being pushed because PErry is sort of self imploding..........I don't see anything refreshing about Cain, and given some of the comments he has made towards muslims I really think he will fall quickly if he does rise up, but idk I am probably overestimating some of the elctorate here.

Didn't the article say he had to loan himself $500,000?

Nah...It says "his supporters" gave him a nice birthday present on August 20. That doesn't reek of any kind of corporatism, imo. Anyway, just to make sure, we all ought to go over there and make sure that the fact is that XX number of supporters donated to his birthday bomb at a certain average donation of $5X.00.

I like how the gist of the article puts Ron in the "first tier" category. : )

2 mill would be huge for cain but would not be enough to have a big impact , especially if its a 1 time thing . like it will be .

After reading the article, I am even more inspired to DONATE to the campaign. We could blow them all out of the water. Perry is hedging his bets, and Romney says he'll bring in FAR LESS than he did earlier.

:)

TOP TIER, baby.

It's nice to see some recognition for fundraising from us poor folk.

but where is the Ron Paul Billionaire? Rev PAC could use this guy. cough Jim Rodgers.

so very true. I once gave $50 to rp and then replaced all my fast-food consumption for a month by packing my own lunches using groceries bought from aldi's.
The numbers just don't lie. Rp gets 5-10 times the total donations romney or perry do, but in far smaller amounts.

aldi's rocks.

LOL - Not so nice when the politician wakes up and finds he is owned by them. :D ;)

Ya know what? This would make a GREAT campaign commercial.

"Imagine...A President who takes NOTHING from the bankers."

It would be. But all they're saying is Ron Paul is getting money. They are specifically not saying it's coming from people who are scrimping and saving in a desperate attempt to buy a little influence in Washington for We, the People...

Fingers crossed is right. I did not think his performace warranted any kind of explosion of money. I am sure his win in the FL straw poll helped, but I can't see him having a big quarter.

As mentioned before Perry and Romney have the bankers to rely on, but the rest of them have to drop soon with the exception of Huntsman who can self finance. I don't think Gingrich, Santorum, and Bahcman have that much personal wealth....

LEt us not forget guys....End of Quarter push and then well the unmentionable happens in October.....

Cain's campaign reported they were getting 'several hundred thousand a day' since the debate, and Cain just went to see Koch and Trump and some ex SNL guy is throwing him a fundraiser. His campaign is being quiet about a total, but had previously said about $3 million.

They don't come right out and say it but they do call him "Top Tier".

Paul's campaign asked supporters to celebrate the Texas congressman's Aug. 20 birthday with a donation — and they gave him $1.6 million on that day alone. It's a pattern for Paul, who can seemingly turn on the money spigot when he needs to; his loyal libertarian backers have delivered like that on five occasions, to the tune of a million or more at a time.

The rest of the field lags far, far behind.

...snip...

All of these second- and third-tier candidates are trying to prove that they are still viable while trying to gather enough cash to pay for polling and advertising to push them through the pack. That's only going to get harder. Campaign fundraising is time-intensive and expensive. It limits time candidates can spend with voters. The meetings are private, limiting a candidate's ability to earn "free media" from news coverage.

Tell ya what. If you go over to the article and post a comment to that effect, I will, too. And maybe a few hundred of our friends here. ;)

Now we know why Bob Dole spent $1 million winning the silly thing in 1995.
