Whoa! It was an interesting reminder of the power of social media and where it is going to take our nation if it continues to go unchecked. They had a ton of tech people discussing the pitfalls of where this has all gone.
They also had some thoughtful commentary of how all rabbit holes lead to the extreme and off the wall because they have the longest watch times and keep you on whatever platform you are on. Attention harvesting algorithms that keep getting better
In another segment, they compared a phone to a digital slot machine, beeping and lighting up and you swipe it just like you're pulling the lever on a slot. every time you swipe we are looking for some random bit of news or tweet from a friend, a "win". Just swipe again if you don't et something the 1st time.
