Any other '87/1988ers really happy to have so many newbies here?

Epic thread is epic.

I want to know who has been with Dr. Paul all this time.

I am because that is what it is all about, a greater movement of ideas that will one day become a electoral powerhouse. Not this year maybe but if we keep driving on with realistic expectations and lean form mistakes RP's ideas will become mainstream

I was barely out of diapers in 87/88 haha, but ive been a liberty minded person since 02/03 at which time I also discovered RP as the lone liberty candidate who no one pays attention to but is fighting the good fight.

In 07 when I heard he was running it was a nice story, when I saw he was raising money I started to follow his candidacy more and when I found this forum I was ecstatic to see so many like minded people supporting RP. After the money bombs in 08 I got my hopes up only to get dissapointed and I basically took 2 years off the forum. It was surprising to see Rand win in 2010.

To see that RP had a real shot at winning Iowa was surreal, the fact that he has gotten over 20% in so many states is indicative of how much the movement has grown. I wont say I am dissapointed this time around but I will stil donate and hope RP goes all the way to the convention where he can drop some truth bombs and those fucking neocons. When we flood the convention with our NOBP t-shirts they will see the massive vote turnout they are missing out on :)

So... the movement must continue today we have more liberty minded people in Congress and Senate than we have had in 30+ years, the gains we have made are incredible and we will continue to do so, so keep on supporting Rp and liberty candidates. The movement must go on!!!

This is why I try to temper som of the over enthusiasm. It is a hell of a crash when you fall and leaves you burned out. You missed out on a lot of fun electing Rand.

The 80's were a bit before my time, but I've been a fan since a few years before his last presidential run. I'd read a lot of his stuff on LRC already and knew who he was and that he was an 88 LP candidate and relatively ignored congressman. I was *beyond happy* when I heard he was going to be in the debate in 2007. ABC's was the first one.

Little fun fact: In May of 2007, I made a submission to reddit that ABC had left him off the post debate poll, even though reddit liked a video that was up of the debate performance. Things snowballed very rapidly, and it became the #1 link that day, with people calling ABC TV, getting the VP of news on the phone via his cell, and all sorts of fun and relatively new and exciting "social media activism". It was reposted to digg by someone else about 2 hours later, and got even bigger. I'm pretty sure that was the first time literally thousands of excited young people heard the guy's name, and it was a real honor to have made that submission and made the call that got Paul added to the poll ... it invigorated literally thousands of people and just continued to snowball all summer.

It's so stupid and silly to know that might be the most big-picture important decision I've ever made, working to engage people that day.

I can't find the reddit submissions, or the comments from my now deleted username "rightcoast" (it's rightc0ast now) ... but I found this bit of "evidence" and interesting writing from an archived and now deleted blog. So cool to see again, I hadn't thought of it in a long time!

Happy to be here. I wasn't even around in 88 lol I wasn't born for another five years but I've been an RP supporter since before I could vote. Glad to see that you guys never gave up (unlike some here who are giving up in droves).

I was born in '87 lol, but I didn't find out about Ron Paul and the movement for another 20 years, in '07. I'm hoping the future has much more in store for us.

It is nice to know I am welcome, and I readily admit to being a newbie.

In 1988 I was a long way from being a libertarian. But I think that I was moving in the right direction. I do remember someone jokingly calling me a libertarian back in 1984 or 1985 because of some opinion that I expressed. But it was not until I started listening to the good doctor back in 2007 that I started to see the light.

Just saying...
Welcome to the movement. :p
Based-upon how they have treated me (not just here but also on the official Paul facebook page), I'd say no. They immediately jump on the new guys and accuse them of being "Romney plants" and other language I cannot repeat here.

BTW I've been a Paul fan since I joined the LP in 2000 and first heard about him
.

Pretty much the same for me.

I was 2 in 88'. I'm glad to know where everything stands now in regards to the political spectrum. Paul's message will carry on with me until the end; and perhaps into the new beginning as well.
