Alaska troopers violate 1st Amendment

I've been following the Animal Planets "Stranger Among Bears" the story about Charlie Vandergaw's Bear Haven. Twice during the program Alaska State troopers showed up on his property and threatened the camera man with confiscating his camera equipment if he didn't stop filming them. To me this is a clear violation of the 1st amendment and Article 1 of the Alaska constitution.

The troopers have the self instituted authority to demand you not film them violating your rights.
That could be used against them and they know it.
They count on the population NOT knowing their rights (Ever wonder why this info is NOT taught in school?)

A trooper has the right of speech as well. He is using that to try to make you do what he wants.

This isn't just about the speech portion, Animal planet is considered the free press.

Most Alaska Troopers are government tyranny enforcement goons just like in any other state. In my dealings with the troopers I`ve found them to be beyond worthless to the average citizen. They "protect and serve" the state not the people.

Oh I totally agree, just wish the camera guy had the balls to push it.

First lesson in dealing with troopers: If he or she begins a sentence with, "Do you mind if I..." the answer is no. You can be polite and allow the trooper to finish the sentence, but the answer is no.

Or use the Daschiell Hammet line--I don't mind at all if you've got a warrant.
