The public option was just a distraction the whole time, it's just a small portion of the legislation. The new regulations and mandates the bill contains are even scarier. If we don't get a "public option" now we'll get one down the road when prices skyrocket even more. They're making it so that the only health care provider that can survive is a government one.

Yeah now whatever we get they will be raving about how they (GOP) stood firm and forced the administration to back down, and got all these concessions. And a year from now Obama will have everything he wanted, whether they have to slip pieces into other bills or not.

And the next bill they come up with will be one of those Friday surprises, the-bill-must-be-passed-so-Nancy-can-get-to-her-plasitc-surgery-appointment, no time to read, no time to discuss piles of bullshit.

It's only a glimmer of hope. A pragmatic conclusion is that the Republicans and the Democrats won't deliver any free market solutions to the health care problems and will just pass through more ugly bills that will just make the situation worse.

And the media will hail it as a perfect compromise. I love my country but hate my government.
