3 Counties Start Process to Secede From Maryland; 7 Counties in Oregon Vote to Secede

https://www.theepochtimes.com/facts...ml?utm_source=partner&utm_campaign=whatfinger

In Maryland, three conservative counties in the western part of the state have gotten so tired of getting overlooked by the Democrats who control state politics that they have started the process of secession. These three counties sent a letter to West Virginia, asking whether they can join.

And actually, this type of thing is not only happening in Maryland.

Several counties in Oregon similarly voted to secede and join the state of Idaho. They essentially don’t like Portland politicians running the state so much that they’re voting with their feet.

Lastly, the Illinois Supreme Court recently unanimously ruled that a tax on guns and ammo that was being levied against Americans living in Cook County was unconstitutional.

It will be a glorious day when the map companies have to re-print new maps.

First step to victory

It would be much more legally defensible if STATES seceded, not counties.

Counties don't have that right, although I'm open to provable arguments to the contrary.

If you don't think you care about legality, then we'll see what happens when the shooting starts.

Of course, secession of counties must be supported, regardless. We have no other options left.

Ill. would like to separate from Cook County.

It's actually much easier and much more likely if counties do it.

They can be annexed by an existing state without having to go through the legal battle to form a new state.

Argument to the contrary:

3 Maryland counties have asked to join West Virginia. Here's how they could do it

Article 4, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution lays out the standards by which new states can be added to the union. It dictates that new states can’t be formed from within a state or from the merging of states without the consent of the states involved and of Congress. Though it doesn’t directly reference trading land, our experts agreed this process is what would need to play out.

“The constitution is clear, no state may be divided without the permission of that state,” Mark Graber said. “It is only with the permission of the Maryland legislature that counties in Maryland can leave, and that's rather unlikely to occur.”

Paul Schiff Berman agreed, explaining that both state’s governors would also likely need to sign off on the county trade. Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan told Baltimore local reporters he views the move as a “publicity stunt.”

It’s already happened.

There will be no secession without force of arms. Do I need to say this again? There will be no secession without force of arms.

No Blue state is going to let a Red county walk away. They truly do enjoy letting you red-neck white supremacists take it up the ass through taxation so they can teach your sons and daughters to hate you and call for your elimination from society.

Shit ain't happening.

Maybe. Maybe not.

"Want in one hand, shit in the other, squeeze both, and see which comes true."

If "blue" states (or the people running them) are unable or unwilling, for whatever reasons, to bear the cost of fulfilling their desires, then it won't matter one damn bit what they want or enjoy.

Politburo commies didn't want the Soviet Union to come apart at the seams, either, but it happened anyway - because they lacked the will and/or wherewithal to pay the price of what they desired. I see no reason to think that the mere wishes of screeching purple-hairs - or their soft, bubble-bound college professors, or holier-than-thou corporate media hacks, or overweening apparatchiks who have heretofore never faced any significant pushback - will be any more efficacious.

"In the runup to Brexit, every blue-pilled publication and pundit denounced the idea as stupid, pointless, absurd and impracticable. They might even have been right. But it still happened, and there was nothing they could do about it despite trying their damnedest."

There will be no separation without bloodshed. Those that steal from workers paychecks will not allow workers to disengage without a fight.

Let's just get this on before I am in such a state I'd rather just shoot myself in the head for any support I'm forced to give for future generations servitude.

*shrug* Maybe. Maybe not.

Why not? The Politburo commies and their apparatchik flunkies allowed it.

They didn't want to, but they allowed it. (As it turned out, they didn't have nearly as much say in the matter as everyone thought.)

But if you really believe that pampered, pink-haired screechers and their spiritual kin are a more potent menace than even the political heirs to the power of Vladimir Lenin and Josef Stalin - so much so that significant bloodshed is the only possibility - then I honestly don't know what to tell you.
