Can someone please translate this post on bonds into laymen terms..

Post: http://www.kitco.com/ind/Summers/dec142010.html Is this a correct assumption: rates way up, economic activity way down, prices increase on some items, fall in others (what goes up and what goes down?), stock market plummets, people and governments default on debts. Is that about right?

    Foreign government bonds?

I don't hear Schiff or other Austrians talk too much about buying foreign interest paying bonds. Does anyone think this may be a good idea, just to diversify a little and also get a little interest which precious metals don't provide? For example Canadian or Chinese bonds paying interest in...

The foreigners are not going to keep buying because they have priorities at home. Any Econ. Majors? Looking for Education re: Bonds/Banks/Fed

Woohoo, crazy theories likely based on misunderstandings. Care to correct me where needed? 1) As Fed target rates decrease, prime lending rates decrease, correct? 2) Long/Short treasury rates tend to rise and fall in near-synchronization with the prime rate, right? 3) Huge and highly liquid...
