    I too consider myself a spiritual person. I dont get much into ritual or religion - the bible actually warns us of such things.

    Murder is killing, but without justification.

    It is possible for even the finest scholars to make mistakes - after all, they are only men, and men do make mistakes - ask my wife :D

    As for the killing and karma; the bible says that man has domain over all animals, plants, seeds... The Old Testament, where the 10 commandments are defined, has many examples of animal sacrifices. I suppose with the exception of stone crab claws, its hard to eat an animal without killing it.
    There are, however, lessons which speak to waste and frugality.

    Its an argument of semantics, I know, but I believe that these distinctions are important. FWIW I had been raised on the phrase "Though shalt not kill". After some time, and research, I can see that "kill" is a misinterpretation, and I find "murder" as being, again, more consistent with the other teachings in the bible.
