    Roll Call here it is..........

Jean Schmidt (OH, dist 2) changed her vote to YEA, and is now a coward, a thief, and a traitor in my eyes. I thought about calling her office, but what fucking good would that do. Time to tell VOTERS, and to remember to get out the vote when her seat comes up for reelection.

    DJI down 150 points early

If we were sane, that quote would have read "because of progress toward..." the bailout.

    DJI down 150 points early

WSJ reports: "Stocks extended losses, as worse-than-expected jobless data added to recessionary fears despite clear progress towards the passage of a bailout bill."

    DJI down 150 points early

The Dow Jones Industrial Average measures the movement of 30 American industrial companies (edit: of the respective stock prices). It is considered a decent proxy for the market as a whole because of its early role as an index. The fact that it is down this morning means that there was a...

[ DIGG ] Constitutional End Run - Appropriations must begin in the House

Nice idea. I would like to have children some day, and it's future generations that the majority is deciding to rob.

[ DIGG ] Constitutional End Run - Appropriations must begin in the House

Both of my senators voted for it. At least in the House, my Rep., Jean Schmidt came out against the first one. Hopefully she'll stay opposed this time. Also, is it just me, or is it really rotten to gut some unrelated House bill so that it could "start" in the House. Isn't this some basis to...

[ DIGG ] Constitutional End Run - Appropriations must begin in the House

Just wrote a new article on my blog encouraging my friends, family, and hopefully strangers to call their senators. It digs into why the Senate bill is a bad idea, including how they're doing an end-run on the Constitutional requirement that appropriations bills begin in the House of Reps. It...

Anyone else having trouble getting to http://www.house.gov ? It's loading slowly for me. I think it is getting slammed as everyone tries to figure out how read the draft bill or find contact info for their reps. When was the last time this happened!

Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (READ IT! 110 pages!)

And all this bullshit that "the taxpayers might even profit." Well, that's not a reason to do it. The government doesn't exist to make paper profits. Government is not a business. It exists to serve the people within the rules of the Constitution. And in any case, if anyone actually believes...

Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (READ IT! 110 pages!)

text version I have converted the PDF to plain text: http://www.paulreads.com/sites/default/files/bailoutbill20080928.txt It has some conversion errors, but you might need this if you're on linux or otherwise aren't using Adobe Reader. From my blog post "New New Deal Reached", which was...

[digg] bailout bill draft text available

PDF draft had Digital Restrictions The post originally contained links to just the PDF, which was "secured"/DRMed. This meant that people with Macs using Preview, or people using Linux and gs couldn't read it. I have extracted the plain text sans Digital Restrictions and uploaded it to the...
