Not in Ubuntu. I never have a problem with youtube or google videos.

In my experience, hibernation (sleep etc.) is not handled well by Microsoft. Turn that off completely, especially if you have a desktop (applies to notebooks also). Just turn your computer off at night when you are done, monitor too. Also make sure you are doing your disk maintenance...
