I hate the state and the political process also. Calling a representative isn't selling out or anything though, just like complaining about horrible legislation to any non-politician.
I sent an email about this "interview" to Ed Schultz. He replied from his blackberry simply "Yp yours". I'm sure he meant to say "Up yours".
Here's what I sent him:
I don't consider God an absolute authority on anything, nor any man. I use reason to formulate what is right and what is wrong based on my experiences in life. Every person does so to some degree whether they believe in a god or not, because it's a part of being human. The ethics put forth in...
I don't know about the NAP, but under Rothbardian libertarianism the owners of the school have every right to defend it with force. Since the criminal has initiated force against the property and persons of others they have forfeited their own rights, and can be punished with force by whatever...
What makes such a principle intelligible is the works of people like Murray Rothbard who observe the natures of man and use their reason to put forth a consistent doctrine of ethics. People may some day adopt this doctrine just as they have adopted other forms of guidance for what is right and...
So the most common complaint about this seems to be that people can't conceive of defense and justice under a system of non-aggression...
Although there is no way to tell what types of systems and institutions would arise in a free-market for justice and defense, there is plenty of libertarian...
Right. It just seems to me that if there is considerable controversy Lew should set things straight. I don't really know how controversial this is though.
Wow. This is the first evidence I've ever seen of the Mises Institute possibly bending on some principles. I wonder what Rothbard would have to say if the institute is benefiting from some of French's money.
Then again, is taking advantage of a state created bubble anti-libertarian?
I'd welcome him into our government, but I can't see him ever going beyond opinion pieces and interviews as far as political activity.
EDIT: You're aware that he's not running as of this moment right?
I use OS X mostly at home. At work I'm an admin for lots of Windows XP boxes. I designed and maintain a custom linux distribution for my job as well, and I use linux at home a lot on any other computer I use other than my main one.
Do you have some article(s) I could read about this? I seem to remember them being one of the few search engines that stood up to the government a few years back.
