Us supreme court schedules full conference to discuss nj citizen suit

I believe that if anything were to happen to Obama between now and Jan 20th that would make him ineligible to serve as president. (death, not a citizen etc) that Congress would vote for the next president.

Do Not Write In Ron Paul

westmich, I hope you are drunk, tired or just having a really bad day. "Hell give me socialism, my family will be better off"....come on now. Ron Paul did as much as we could hope for any single man to do. He certainly put more time into this than 99% of us did...I think it is crazy to be...

Meltdown in 24-48 hrs? Is this likely?

I agree with the keep calm, the market can crash even without riots and anarchy... I think we are headed for a tough bear market, no depression or wilderness living. latest futures from CNBC: http://www.cnbc.com/id/17689937/ I am showing Dow down 286 points.

Meltdown in 24-48 hrs? Is this likely?

I edited the post...it seems that they are "under review" for a downgrade...which isn't really 'breaking'. I think that was known earlier today. my bad, I am too quick to believe rumors...have to be careful.

Meltdown in 24-48 hrs? Is this likely?

Depends where you live... some states have no waiting periods for "long guns" like shotguns or rifles. I know that is the case in NC, what state are you from?

    Question on LIBOR rates

Thank you! I figured there was some sort of downside for borrowing from the Fed. I was thinking maybe there was just a limit of the amount of money... thanks for the response

    Big CDS auction tomorrow-

Part of me thinks that tomorrow, after the price is announced, and we see who is exposed and how much, that it may be a great buying opportunity because we will know who is (was) overly-exposed and may be in trouble.

    Question on LIBOR rates

    Question on LIBOR rates

Ok, maybe I have a fundamental misunderstanding here...I am not asking what LIBOR rates are, or what the problem in today's economy is. I understand rates are higher because of the risk involved, or presumed. The Discount window, from wikipedia: Ok, this discount window is 1.75% right now...

    Question on LIBOR rates

But can they not lend for %1.75 percent from the FED? Why do they need to pay 5% for loans from other banks in the first place?

    Question on LIBOR rates

They are afraid they won't get their money back from the FED? I understand the whole bank to bank part of it...I just don't understand why it matters if the Discount window is at a lower interest rate.

    Question on LIBOR rates

from CNBC.com: "LIBOR is the London Interbank Offered Rate, the interest rate at which banks are willing to lend to one another." so are banks only lending to other banks at that high of a price? or all companies?? Just FYI, a great site I found is investopedia.com I am pretty new with all...

    Question on LIBOR rates

So every time I turn on the TV or go to cnbc.com they are talking about the LIBOR rates (overnight, 1 month, 3 month). I understand what they are, but I don't understand why they matter if the Fed's funds rate is much much lower (1.75% like it is now, compared to an overnight LIBOR rate at...
