Why does the US love Israel?

I'm serious now. Like many of you, I'm pretty well-informed on major political issues, but I have never understood this one. Why do the 2 parties compete for who loves Israel more? Why is that country chosen as our ally by politicians and why does much of our middle-east foreign policy focus...

    >>>***Official***<<< Presidential Debate Thread

Did I just hear that social security is sound? From a government whose boldest plan is to have a balanced budget in 30 years?

    Media bias against gold standard

If you mean that "there isn't enough gold to run our currency system" then that is a common misconception. Basically, value is subjective - if no one can get their hand on enough gold (or notes 100% backed by gold) to make transactions, the value of gold simply increases (which is fine since a...

"I Would Say It's The Ron Paul People That Did Voter Fraud" @cenkuygur

Cenk Uygur reports on the US Government is actively trying to stifle whistleblowers, every internet restriction bill, drug war being a hypocritical sham, the bankers controlling US politics, and how Obama's foreign policy is more tyrannical than Bush's. And then he attacks Ron for being "kooky"...

Schiff called a "Moron" by a Socialist Airhead

My only problem with Peter Schiff. He goes on these programs trying to convince viewers that don't understand economics how the current state of affairs are, and he forgets that he loses credibility by being abrasive. These people's arguments are easy enough to destroy already.

Minor Presidential Appointees Won't Need Senate Approval

From what I can tell, S 679, or the "Presidential Appointment Efficiency and Streamlining Act of 2011", allows more minor Presidential appointees to become approved without Senate consent, ostensibly in order to fix the Senate's large backlog. News article...

Gary Johnson Video: "The Vote For Freedom Is Never Wasted"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izCXJZAIXMI Similar to his last video. Think what you want about the guy, but I would imagine most of you would agree with the general points he makes. If these ads become popular, maybe they can help bring anti-partisanship into public debate.

Gary Johnson It's time to throw our full weight behind Gary Johnson.

Probably right. But what use is clout if you only choose to get behind candidates that are perfectly, intellectually libertarian? In my personal opinion, which I'm sure most of you share, there are issues separating Johnson and Paul in which I'm a little uncomfortable with Johnson's position...

Gary Johnson It's time to throw our full weight behind Gary Johnson.

I agree that this is sort of mistake. However, he did endorse him for the Republican nomination after dropping out. In one of the debates, he said flat out that if he were the Republican nominee, he would choose Paul for VP. He also aired an ad that had the words "Go GJ and RP" in it. Gary...

Weigel: Why I Voted for Huntsman, and not Ron Paul

(is what I heard) The whole "Ron Paul has already won and lost even though he has more support now" argument says "I just like the underdog". If a person gives up on a political idea because it hasn't had that much success in the past, then that person is really more concerned with popularity...
