I was handcuffed on my porch due to officer mistake.

haha I guess so. After thinking about it, He didn't even ask me my address. While trying to reason with him, I asked him if he could have the wrong house, and told him this is 1410____ trl. and he said, yes, 1410... that's when the female cop corrected him. I'm glad I asked.

a lot of great responses. Thanks everyone. I can't remember any time that a cop (is that better anti federalist? haha) let me off the hook for speeding... I'm pretty certain this cop gave me a speeding ticket last year too. Not that I'm upset about that. I just don't want to cut him any slack...

I would love money, but that isn't the point. What I want is liberty. There are so many hypocrites out there. People who don't even know how wrong they are. It is sad and frustrating to think of all of the sheep out there who will defend the government's actions. Are most people actually too...

yeah, but is it going to be worth the money? I hate to just let this go, but I don't have extra cash laying around to spend on lawyers.

I was handcuffed on my porch due to officer mistake.

Could I?? Maybe I could if I can show that the did not have probable cause to detain me. Do they need to know what crime they are accusing me of to have probable cause? Is a 911 hang up call considered probable cause? Does the fact that they came to the wrong house affect any of those answers? i...

They'll probably just make a new law requiring you to have your house number posted in 9 different places... you know, because we need more laws... I'll contact a lawyer and see what they have to say. I'm sure nothing will come of it. I just wanted some opinions from liberty minded folks like you...

I was handcuffed on my porch due to officer mistake.

no, i was on my couch inside. When i saw that it was police, I figured it was in response to a complaint against my crazy neighbor, or possibly about the camper that is parked in my front yard being a violation of city ordinance. I wasn't really concerned, but they can knock all they want next...

They realized their mistake after they put me in handcuffs, but they didn't go inside my home yet. If I didn't tell them the address, they would have gone inside. They already asked me if my dog (that was inside) was gong to bite them.

They admitted that they thought they were at a different address when they said it was because I didn't have numbers on one side of my mailbox.

The problem I have is that he put me in handcuffs, searched me and was about to go into my home without a warrant, or consent. I was not being aggressive or violent. I may not have been friendly, but there is really no nice way to say "you are not allowed in my house". There was no evidence that...

I was handcuffed on my porch due to officer mistake.

10-4 that makes sense. I wonder what would have happened if I never answered the door. If they forced their way in, I could have been shot. My gun is usually on my side or within arms reach and I would have pulled it if my door was knocked in. I didn't have it on my hip at the time, but it was...

I'm sure whoever receives the complaints will be off tomorrow... I'll give it a shot anyway. if not, i'll go on Friday. I just can't stand him trying to justify violating my natural and constitutional rights. I'm glad I got an apology though, at least that is an admission of guilt... by their...

I already wrote down what happened so I wouldn't forget any details. His comment "If you weren't so hostile I wouldn't have put you in handcuffs"... i mean come on. I'm sitting on my couch minding my own business, reading a book, when you come twist my arm to handcuff me.... Someone get this guy...
