Okay well you posted the video. What are your thoughts? I am not going to read 33,000 comments but the few I looked at were all pro cop. How would the cop have known he was "texting" while driving? Can a person text hands free? Can a person use their phone for music or maps? Can a person make a hands free phone call? Why can't a person use their phone while driving? Oh it is a distraction. What are all those distractive devices in the patrol car? Are LEO vaccinated against distractions? IMO giving a ticket for failure to produce a paper registration is pure extortion. He was not getting cited for driving an unregistered motor vehicle. Had the vehicle not been registered they would have towed it. If the guy paid for the registration and the car is registered what is the need for that useless piece of paper. Cop needs training. She forgot to ask for proof of insurance. Yesterday it snowed here. I got into a plow truck I only drive when it snows. I plowed my driveway here and went a mile down the street to another property I own. On the way back I realized I was wearing a different jacket and I didn't have my license. I know my license number but even if I didn't, I have a valid license. If or when a cop pulls a person over, before they get out of the car, they know the registration status of the vehicle and the owner's name. I would think that in this day and age your license with a big picture of you is on the cops computer screen. With that said, not providing a license should not be a ticket-able offense either. Does a person have to be killed or physically beaten to be justifiably harmed by the police? This is the equivalent of a hypothetical apparel police. You get stopped fully dressed with shoes, socks, pants, shirt, jacket.... and cop asks you for proof of shoe receipt.
With all that said the guy thought he should get special treatment because, "do you know who I am"? "I am so good to the police.." Doing 51 or whatever in a 35 is not something I would do. He indicated he would have accepted the speeding ticket. He had an ego and lied or misrepresented the providing of registration but as mentioned IMO that is extortion.
