On what basis are we so certain that Iran will never be able to acquire nuclear technology?

Israel is the only country with the means and possibilities to have nukes, and they are the only country in the middle east with the capability of firing nukes.




From what I know, Iran does want nuclear power, but for power stations, being able to satisfy energy needs with nuclear power plants would free up a lot of their fossil fuels I believe.

We don't...are you worried about this? How will they deploy them against us? Let me tell you something about fissable material...it is traceable. There are tell tale signs that distinguish different fissable material deposits and differences in processing. So if you are worried that they will hand it off to nutjobs...yes...they could...at their own peril. I highly doubt that the persians would have as their main goal...'The permanent end to their civilization, people, and homeland'. That is what it comes down to bro. Persia would be turned into the proverbial lake of fire and completely removed from the face of the earth. Yes...they may sting us and kill many in a few cities, but they would effectively cease to exist because fissable material is THAT traceable!

So yes...if they are that suicidal...as a whole culture...which no culture has ever been...then they are unstoppable...then they would be permanently and irrevocably destroyed and stopped for ALL eternity. If anyone thinks they want that then they are delusional.

The Russians could have sent suitcase nukes through rogue players...but they didn't...because we would have figured it out and all Armageddon would have ensued.

And yes...my schooling is in nuclear engineering.

No...for the reasons I stated above...the argument you make sounds good, but is a false argument in all reality. And honestly...If I was them...I would want them to provide some sense of an ability to at least sting the dominant US in an attack on me. Truly put yourself in their shoes after all we have done to them since 1953...do not forget that our government is not 100% innocent...we have played very hard and nasty ball with them and others. If you were them...you would be nervous as heck too and want all the cards possible in the hopes of staving off aggression.

I personally think they would like to have nukes for defense and the ability to sting the dominant player...the US in case of a US attack, but as I stated above...for them to use them offensively would mean the end of their ancient and proud civilization.

Read up on the Persians...they are not Arabs...they do not have a cultural 'Death Wish'. They do want as all cultures and countries do...'The Freedom' to believe as they wish and have sovereign control over their homeland and resources. This is not rocket science and is the aspiration of all peoples in all lands.

Lastly, with a non-aggressive foreign policy where both sides give mutual respect and trade with each other...why would you want to attack each other. Iran DOES NOT have a modern history of waging war across the globe.

You really think that if they had zero threat from us that they would not LOVE to sell us their oil? You bet they would! They would LOVE to trade and make money and spend money. I believe that our BEST method of influencing the world is trade and the exchange of civilizations. Our movies, music, strange fast food, clothing, and other things have done way more to change the world than our military.

I am not against the military...heck...I'm ex-military and still hold my oath to the Constitution dear to my heart...very dear. However, I believe in following the Constitution and the advice of our founding fathers...trade, communicate with others...be very open...be a good example of Liberty...but do not get into entangling alliances...do not become Empire! Of course, have a strong national defense...keyword...DEFENSE. Trade and Diplomacy are way more powerul and prosperous than war. War may be unavoidable at times, but in most cases is avoidable and should be avoided when possible and feasible. Once again...defensive war(moral/just Christian war), and Congressionally DECLARED war only!

That is exactly what I am saying to put it bluntly. If the country is a problem country...find out why(look in the mirror...i bet our side is half the problem)...try to open trade and dialogue. Two countries posing no threat to each other will rarely find themselves at war.

Even if they did acquire nukes, which is a stretch of imagination, we are the last of their worries. No real need for us to worry. Plus, a strong defense is a good offense, which is something we should have also. Can't touch us if we have a strong defense.

If congress wishes to wage war and bomb nuke sites in Iran they will have to do it the constitutional way.

McCain will shit on the constitution and do it lone ranger like. He will act like Bush and throw propaganda at people to convince them that the war he brought on was necessary.
