Why MLK day may not be a good choice

If the MLK moneybomb turns out to be noteworthy, like the other two big fund raising events have, then we can expect decent media coverage. I'm not certain, in this case, if this is necessarily beneficial as the media always wants to relate the significance of the day to the fund raising. I believe this will give them a chance to re-iterate the racist remarks in the Paul newsletters and give it even more exposure.

Well, kinda... the good Doctor mentioned this day on national TV, referring to the first 2 money bombs, saying "they will be doing it again", referring to the grassroots.

Then, the MLK day is supposed to be a show of numbers more than a recordbreaking fundraising day, if I understand correctly. They only want $10 but from as many people as possible. And more is welcome, ofcourse. Frankly I think it's better to have 100K $10-donations than 1000 $1K-donations.

My God, why is it every time an individual posts some constructive criticism people shout "troll!" It's a perfectly valid concern; massive attention towards Ron Paul in relation to the MLK holiday opens up ample opportunity to lambast him for the racist comments that appeared in the newsletter. The question is this: does that matter? Should we cater to such a negative element? I, personally, do not think so.

Actually if we were to not donate as much money as we did with the other money bombs it will make the newsletters a legitimate attack since they can say we are all racists who don't love MLK.

Its been decided by Dr. Paul himself. We've been running around with like 12,000 different money bomb ideas and he finally mentions it on one of his best interviews on CNN so we have no choice but to do a MLK money bomb now.

This is a valid concern. Unfortunately there's nothing we can do about it. Ron Paul already said MLK day is the day, so we have to fall in line, or the money bomb won't be that big and the media will report that RP is losing support.

I agree that it's too late to debate this now. I think it's counter-productive to be making threads about why we shouldn't be doing an MLK moneybomb when it's right around the corner, and this energy could be used to promote said moneybomb.

Its fox news, they'll say something stupid like, Ron Paul is trying to recover from racist remarks. I'll be donating everything I can that day for freedom and liberty, Fox news can do all the spin they want. I'm in this till the very end, like Ron Paul says, its the message not the man.

So how about we stop giving it any more credence than it already needs... and if Ron Paul wants your donation on MLK day, and you want to donate, then donate...

If you want to donate on Jan 20 or Jan 22... also donate.. the point is that it will go to the same thing and help pay for the same campaign. Period.

I was completely and totally against the MLK money bomb.
I felt it would do more harm than good. There were very heated discussions on the subject.

With that said, I have changed my mind somewhat because of the situation Dr. Paul has been placed in but mostly because now he has publicly endorsed it and in my opinion he has requested it.
We must make a strong statement regarding our choice for leader of the United States of America.

I completely support giving to Dr. Paul on MLK day.

I will give more than I did in the Tea party Bomb.

*sigh* This was hashed out long ago in one of the forums here. Some folks hate the idea, others love it. (I'm in the LOVE it camp.) Whether you hate it or love it Ron Paul has endorsed it. There is an old saying. Don't jostle the archer's arm when he has pulled the bow string. (Got that from a Conan book). In other words it would be TOTALLY STUPID to back away from the MLK day money bomb at this point. And quit worrying about what the MSM has to say. Notice how they almost TOTALLY ignored the Tea Party money bomb even though it's been the biggest so far? Hey if you want to give on another day do so. But don't discourage others from giving on MLK day.

Because there are so many trolls, and so many people who can't tell the difference.

As far as the point of the OP... We can't beat the media at their own game. Unless one of you wants to come forward with the info that you own a major network, we need to do our thing while recognizing them for what they are.

If they're going to bring it up, they're going to bring it up. It doesn't matter what day the money bomb happens, so it might as well be on the already decided date.
