I'm going to look for 2022, but 57 for the whole year does not seem like a massive number.

For comparison, 1206 women died in childbirth in 2021.

But why the lopsided number of black transqueeers?

Especially when you consider that the overwhelming majority of transqueeers are whites.

Note that I looked up the surname "Etute" (from the Virginia Tech football player.) While he was born in America, his surname is prominent in Nigeria according to Forebears.io. (Yes, I got curious about this story). According to human rights watch being in a gay relationship can get you 10 to 14 years in prison in Nigeria. So, to the extent that black transgenders are more likely to interact with people of recent West African heritage than white transgenders, they are at a higher risk. And yet they want to flee America because states like Tennessee and Alabama say that drag shows have to be in adult venues and you can't do "gender affirming" double mastectomies on 13 year olds. Europe and Asia are going to be very crowded with American refugees I guess. They cannot go to Africa.

Wasn't it Uganda that just passed a capital punishment law upon conviction of homosexual acts?

Certainly no nation in Africa will be a refuge for queeers, black or white.

There are several situations that can come into play.

- Some people become violent after sex (usually gay). They knew what they were dong, but regret it afterwards. That sometimes results in violence or murder.

- If a transgender person "fools" someone into intimacy that they would not engage in if they knew, that can result in violence or murder. But in that case, the person who fooled another person engaged in fraud, and as it a physical act, also sexual assault (IMHO).

- Street prostitution often leads to violence. In that case, it is not unique for trans people.

When I lived in Hollywood during the 70's there was a serial killer killing the trans prostitutes by cutting their junk off and leaving them to bleed to death out in the desert. I am not sure if they ever found out who was doing it. Detectives said it looked like more then one person was doing it.
