.. in that he makes promises and stands, then after he's elected, will change his stands and be like all the rest?

I was asked this, and didn't know what to answer.

Well, he's never change his stand in the last 40 years, I dunno why he would do it now.

Tell them about his consistent 18 year voting record as a congressman.

He has always voted the same way and is known for not voting if it goes against the constitution.

Can't say it any better. He is my Congressman and I get every vote of his and my Senators and RP has been consistent. Even when he left Congress I first heard about him in an article and he had no reason at that time to impress anyone and he was the same then.

His actions has matched his words faithfully.

He isn't compromised by special interests. His election will be based on regular people donating small amounts of money and he has a long history of keeping his word.

That's an easy one to answer.

You might point out to this person... (most of these from his MySpace page)

...that special interests don't even bother to lobby him since they know what his answer will be;

...his Congressional office returns money to the federal treasury every year;

...he has declined to participate in the congressional pension program;

...his children were not recipients of student loans;

...He has never voted to raise congressional pay;

...He has never taken a government-paid junket;

...He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch;

...He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.

After citing these, you may want to follow up with, "Any questions?"

:)

Well, one reason to have some confidence in Ron Paul's integrity is that he can stand on his record. A record anyone with an ounce of motivation can access.

He has written volumes of op-eds and speeches that are available in the public record and, of course, online. His views are clearly stated and are consistent over the length of his public service. His congressional record is testament to his principled stance. His personal life exudes responsibility, intelligence and other admirable qualities.

Ron Paul isn't a "handled" politician. He does have advisors but they aren't chosen for their ego stroking or rabid mad dog win at all cost no matter what talents.

What you won't see Paul do is insult or resort to personal attack politics. He doesn't make jokes about other people's expensive haircuts, although he might if the taxpayers had to pay for it. He talks to the issues not the personalities.

In science, one can ascertain the properties of a material by careful observation over a long duration. Well, Ron Paul has had over 2 decades in the public record and his innate qualities are rock solid.
