Why hasn't Paul spent more?

Why hasn't more of the millions been spent in Iowa, etc? He hasn't even spent one million in Iowa.

Personally, I'm glad he's being conservative with the pennies in Iowa. He actually got the money boost a bit late anyway for air time there. NH and South Carolina are where he needs to focus, and more in South Carolina.

From the faith thread:
I listened to people like you ALL WEEKEND long at the ames straw poll.

"WE'RE GONNA WIN!!" and I kept saying PATIENCE, we aren't going to win but anything better than 5th is a victory for us.

And I got yelled at all weekend long. And we got 5th just like I said... AND IT WAS A VICTORY!! It helped propel us from fringe last place kook to national contender.

The strategy HAS NEVER BEEN TO WIN IOWA, though it would have been nice and I'm absolutely sure that HQ is pleased as hell that we're doing so well there. Consider the fact that he is putting virtually no on the ground time in the state(comparatively speaking).

And regardless of what you all think about NH, the idea was NEVER TO WIN NH either!! It's to make sure we are a respectable 4th or better in Iowa and an even more respectable 3rd in NH. Anything better is Gravy.

The plan is to force the others to SPEND THEMSELVES OUT IN THOSE TWO STATES!! And it's working in spades. Look at how much money is being Pissed away in the those TWO IRRELEVENT STATES.

You all laugh at Rudy and how bad he is being beat in those two states. HE'S PLAYING IT SMART, he isn't wasting his money!! And neither is Ron Paul(again comparatively speaking).

The goal is to keep the upward momentum moving throughout January and Place 2nd in Michigan and 3rd in SC and 2nd in Florida.

BY THEN ONLY Rudy, McCain, Mitt and Huckster will be left, along with Ron. He will have effectively knocked out all the lower tier with this stategy. With 5 primaries under his belt he will have done no WORSE than 4th and he will be in the running going into Super Tuesday.

This is where it gets interesting. If current trends hold he should be polling around 11 or better nationally and probably much better in a lot of states(California ANYONE!!!)..

SO DON'T CALL ME PESSEMISTIC OR A TROLL. I think that HQ is playing this to win and is doing it just right.

IOWA AND NH DON"T MEAN SHIT ANYMORE. We are re-writting the rules and those two small ass states aren't going to make or break our campaign. But it sure as hell is going to break a lot of other campaigns.

REMEMBER WE MADE 20 MILLION THIS QUARTER WITH MUCH MORE ON THE WAY!! Ron is playing bully poker stategy right now. He is forcing others to stay in pots they should be running away from.

He is using their own stupid pride against them. EXCEPT RUDY!! Rudy is smart enough to stay out of these early pots and fight to play when it really counts.

My estimation at least.

He has stated that they will use all the money raised to campaign through Super Tuesday. They need to budget the funds to be effective in numerous states. That's why it's important that the campaign raise even more $$$ within the next 6 weeks.

$20 million Q4 was outstanding, but I'm guessing the cash on hand is still less than what Romney and Giuliani have. McCain could get a fundraising boost from NH too to become competitive.

This is retarded. He should be unloading in Iowa right now. O well..

Doesn't need to...

It seems like a good idea to pile on in Iowa, but he doesn't need to. It's already a virtual guarantee that Paul comes in between 3rd and 5th. Any of those is significant, and the difference between 3rd and 5th shouldn't have that much of an effect on New Hampshire where he is already much stronger. Sure, if he came in 3rd (or magically 2nd), he'd get a huge burst of support from some Independents in NH, but there are a lot of variables there: they might be looking at the Democratic race (remember, New Hampshire is an OPEN primary, so they can switch parties); they may not be shocked by a 3rd anyway, since he's been predicted there for a few weeks; and the campaign may be better keeping funds for Nevada, South Carolina, New York, California, and Florida. They all will play a part in the next month or so. Plus, 1 million ain't nothing. They still have 20-30 more states to go.

At this point, probably only last minute money to help bus people to the caucuses will be helpful in Iowa. Because of the money bombs and Huckabee offseting Romney, Paul has the financial legs to withstand a disappointment in Iowa, so long as he does well in NH and after.

If anything, New Hampshire has been TOO bombed by the campaign and grassroots. Paul's running a national campaign, so doing well in the early states, he'll be prepared instead of a Huckabee situation.

Unlike Huckabee who has much less money Ron Paul can actually compete in the rest of the country. As far as I can tell his organization it Iowa is much better than Huckabee's there is a story about it somewhere recently on the forums.

Anybody on this thread ever been involved in Presidential politics? Could we please let the campaign do it's job?

Jeez.

DUMB Move by Campaign Staff... he'll save lot's for his SENATE RUN

Huckabee's Speech on C-SPAN today covered it... he SPUN IT PERFECTLY!

being out spent 20-1 card , played the UnderDog card, AT played Ron Paul's CONSTITUTION card.

Half of his 27 minute speech was stolen from RP policies. Huckabee could even get the Colonial British Soldiers statement correct. He state... Their SHINEY Bright Red Coats with Brass Buttons <=== Proves it was all WELL REHEARSED!

With the Media... Is just like the Judicial System in this country...

Get them to cover and spent their money... not yours!

Sitting on $23 MILLION in the bank is ridiculous...
especially when the campaign staff is 60 days behind on strategies.

Iowa is important but it is not the state where his ideas and message resonate well among fanatical evangelicals, pro-farm subsidies people, and war hawks.

Money is better spent on New Hampshire and Mega-Tuesday.

Me, kind of. I was one of the people who spoke from the podium in favor of nominating Aaron Russo for President, at the 2004 Libertarian Party convention. I do agree we need to keep things in perspective. The campaign is doing what it can with the money we gave it, including asking for the additional $23 million. Paul is competing against Giuliani/Romney campaigns that will be spending $100 million this month prior to Super Tuesday.

The $20 million we gave is just enough to keep us competitive through then. The blimp also helps as a cost effective way to get Paul unique local media buzz through January. The grassroots and campaign are complementing each other well, with grassroots taking the risks and working out PR/fundraising innovations, while HQ goes the tried and true route once it gets the money.

The campaign is doing a good job. They're making critical resource allocation decisions.

Let them do their job, and we'll do ours -- without all the whining, complaining and second-guessing.
