Why hasn't Edwards been nailed on this comment?

Asked about what he could do about "inner-city kids partaking in violence" at the MTV/MySpace Forum, Democratic candidate John Edwards said:

“We cannot build enough prisons to solve this problem. And the idea that we can keep incarcerating and keep incarcerating — pretty soon we’re not going to have a young African-American male population in America. They’re all going to be in prison or dead. One of the two.”

To me that's even worse than what O'Reilly said. At least he can say he was being absurd to point out the false portrayal of African Americans in popular culture. Which is what I think he was doing.

But this Edwards comment is virtually impossible to use the context excuse. Why is it just a few bloggers commenting on it? Where's the MSM? Where's Sharpton?

It's either because they haven't caught it yet or because the media like Edwards and are giving him a pass.

This should be put up on DailyKos. I hear they love Edwards over there.

Plus, they seem very touchy about the false statements by Dr. Paul.
I wonder how they'll react to this
