I think it is less complicated than all that.

People don't work because they have no need to work. They can live relatively comfortably without working. They are supported by someone else.

Very true in US . Dismal workforce participation rate . Only 6 in 10 work , only 2 pay more tax tan receive, Failed welfare state of debt w/ 3rd world inflation and yper inflation on food , and 1/2 states still tax food. Only ends one way.
