If that isn't taken care of, everything else just falls apart....

If you have a shitty economy there is more call for nanny state programs.

Yeah, hard choice... went with economics and taxes... but the civil liberties are a REAL close second. National sovereignty is also really important, but I think we have a bit of time before that becomes really threatning... not that we should ignore it, but I think the coming economic crash will do more to move us towards the NAU than anything else. Thus, we should focus on fixing the economy before everything else. Really, I think Ridiculous was right... if we fix the economy, the rest will mostly be covered.

Well i guess economy and taxes would be the closest thing to federal debt reduction and entitlement spending...

And now its time for the bonus round...

What would happen if we eliminated the national debt?

Allow me.

Eliminating the national debt will lower interest rates, and therefore lower deficits. We avoid the critical mass cycle caused by raising rates on the debt, raising deficit, and raising interest.

We avoid the approaching disaster... and release the need for the government to borrow ignorantly. We will avoid our tax money being spent on the interest concerns for the debt.

The only two solutions of cutting the national debt are Taxing more or significantly cutting government spending.

The current Keynesian model for economics, to borrow relentlessly, and pay back during times of economic boom, has not been used in this administration...The government has spent on credit more money then ever now, during a relative economic boom.... follow the logic.

Your choice.

I think there is innate problem with accepting the idea that one thing must be sacrificed for another...

I see no reason why intelligent fiscal policy cannot go hand in hand with guardianship of our sacred liberties.

Well sovereingty is important but I just don't believe that it's on the brink of vanishing... yet. I chose foreign policy, mainly because the current one we have makes absolutely no sense and has made us more vulnerable in the long run than anything else. Economy and taxes are up there too. Fortunately for us, many of these issues are intertwined and Ron Paul would be able to take down two, three or even four birds with a single stone so to speak.

If the national debt were completely erased, there would be no more basis for our monetary system. Remember that the "reserves" held by the Federal Reserve are nothing more than bonds from the treasury. Repay all the debt, lose the basis for issuing currency.

This, of course, is because we have a flawed monetary system- not a reason to keep a debt hanging over the heads of future generations of Americans.

It's all about the money so I chose the economy.

In rational terms I see our foreign policy as just another government boondoggle as opposed to some moral injustice.

As the wars expand, the economy gets depressed, and the government uses both of these occurrences as a rationale to create more programs which in turn hurts our civil liberties whether they be laws like the patriot act or nationalized health care. A poor economy is also their justification for things like NAFTA, CAFTA or a North American Union. If we had a booming economy these things could never be sold to the American people.

it's tough. My honest choice is the evolution of mankind.

Shhh... many people here don't believe in "evil-lutionism. " They are okay with a few generations of ignorant Americans, as the market will eventually weed out the schools that teach nonsense...

So you want your atheist belief ('evolution', which is a THEORY with tons of holes in it, which you obviously must believe out of blind faith.....belief without absolute proof) taught in public schools? Atheism is to be the belief system taught? You think your belief based on faith, 'evolution', should be forced on the kids? This is hypocritical.

Did you know that Communist countries insist on teaching 'evolution' as fact, and that they don't allow opposing beliefs/viewpoints on the matter of our existence? This is happening in all public schools now, because of the implementation of Goals 2000 (signed by Clinton) developed through UNESCO, socialist public education indoctrination/conditioning modeled after the Soviets. Is this what you want?

I voted civil liberties, since we can't address the issues without them.
