The President of Mexico opened the stock market today. With all the news headlines about needing a global solution to the problems that the banksters have caused, and with the bailouts allowing the foreign banks to come begging, it sure looks like they are getting ready to shove a global economic council or something down our throats?

I've been reading WAY too much www.urbansurvival.com, but these headlines started sometime yesterday, and now the President of Mexico opens OUR stock market? What is going on?

Also...and maybe this is just some weirdness on my computer....

When I click on the Dutch guy who is visiting the NYSE today, I get info on who he is, blah blah blah.

When I click on the Mexican guy....nothing.

Can one of you guys check and see if y'all get a nice little blurb about the Mexican guy, or not?

This isnt any big deal... From time to time they let other people do this, otherpoliticial figures, movie stars, etc.. IM sure Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dan Akroyd (dressed as a Blues Brother) have both opened the exchange before as well.

I think Santa Claus does it round Christmas too.

Remember some big meeting is on at the UN, so lots of heads of states are in NYC for that....

Everyday it's someone important, but I thought the timing of the Mexican Prez. was interesting, along with all these headlines calling for global solution to economic woes.

Oh, that makes sense! It's the opening of the General Assembly or whatever. But there are only so many slots for the opening, and I'm sure these people are selected for a reason--Ukraine being another example.
