USS MOUNT WHITNEY - TO BE SACRIFICED IN A COMING NATO / RUSSION CONFLICT?
The USS Mount Whitney was built in 1969 (39 Years old - numeric significance there?) - sailors on board have called themselves "The Rust Fighters."

It is important to note that the USS Liberty as the USS Mount Whitney are both US intelligence gathering vessels... The only descrepancy is that the USS Mount Whitney holds a flag officer onboard of it (somebody of a admiral rank..)

CONCLUSION
The US Military has put ships throughout the Black Sea region. The US Coast Guard cutter Dallas anchored right in the harbour in Sevastopol, Ukraine (even though the whole town came out and protested and was waiting to club the US sailors - here )
This event is actually causing a political crisis in the Ukraine... here
The USS McFaul went to Batumi, 20 miles south of where the USS Mount Whitney anchored at Poti... This has effectively positioned various US ships throughout the Black Sea region.... here
If this is not enough presence several US Military airlifts have been continually flying into the area...
If you add it all up, this is effectively a military buildup under the guise of a humanitarian mission.
CONCLUSIONS...
The US political body is smarting after being made to look like fools in the world community for suporting Georgia, a nation which initiated the attack against Russian civilians and Russian peacekeepers in S. Ossetia on the night of Aug 7/8. Only the US controlled media has been successful in spinning that it was Russia that initiated the whole thing... They would only LOVE to see some fighting break out and for their ship to be targeted.. As extreme as that sounds the US needs political currency that they can use - and right now they have little respect in the eyes of the world. They need something that they can use that will villianize Russia, returning their status to the 'good guys' - and to put Russia into her old role of the 'bad guys'... The sinking of one of their warships by Russian forces, or even the image of such created by a rogue Israeli strike force pre-situated in Georgia is the perfect pretext they need.. However inspite of all of this they would probably prefer to sacrifice a frigate off the the Strait or Hormuz and use it as political currency against Iran by which they can bomb them to smitherians. The government controlled US media machine would be non-stop wailing about how we need to rally around the flag because those evil Iranians stood up to American influence peddling. They would further that its only Godly and American that we drop a bunch of nuclear warheads on a bunch of innocent bystander Iranian citizens....
The only way to stop these kinds of events is to remove plausible deniability - the government is ALWAYS trying to appear the 'good guys' and will quickly stop such an event if the public is aware and expecting it... So the more it is open knowledge and talked about the less likely such an event can occur...
