Why is this such a bad thing? This means that we send a whole bunch of so-called "useless" paper (or numbers) overseas and they give us real goods. I don't have a problem with that.

The only way to correct a current account deficit is by exchange rate inflation, and seeing how not too many on here are for that, you'll have to live with what looks like a really bad number on the surface.

This number is not a debt that has to be paid back. All it means is that we receive about $700 billion more in imports than we send out in exports. If it continues and domestic production doesn't outpace the lost money, the dollar will eventually devalue enough to where it becomes profitable again to export rather than import.
