Fox News was sued for defamation Wednesday by Trump supporter Ray Epps, who alleges the network and host Tucker Carlson spread a "fantastical story" about him.

Driving the news: Epps, who emerged at the center of right-wing conspiracy theories after he participated in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, accuses Fox News and Carlson in his lawsuit of "spreading falsehoods" that he was an undercover FBI agent and was responsible for inciting the riot.

"Just as Fox had focused on voting machine companies when falsely claiming a rigged election, Fox knew it needed a scapegoat for January 6th," the complaint states.

"It settled on Ray Epps and began promoting the lie that Epps was a federal agent who incited the attack on the Capitol."

The lawsuit alleges that Carlson "commenced a years-long campaign spreading falsehoods about Epps."

Fox News did not immediately respond to Axios' request for comment.

Funny how despite video evidence showing this turkey inciting violence the FBI never arrested him.

What are you going to believe? A lawsuit against lying Fox News and evil Tucker Carlson, or your own eyes?

Ray Epps To Be Criminally Charged For Events On January 6, His Attorney Says

“Finally, in May 2023, the Department of Justice notified Epps that it would seek to charge him criminally for events on January 6, 2021—two-and-a-half years later,” the lawsuit said. “The relentless attacks by Fox and Mr. Carlson and the resulting political pressure likely resulted in the criminal charges.”

"Trump supporter Ray Epps..." LMAO. If Ray Epps is a Trump supporter, I am Mary Poppins.

So, he's suing Fox for saying he's a federal agent, when he says in reality he's a rioter.

So, this is a defamation suit? It's now not only an insult, but a societal and/or professional hardship for a mere rioter to be thought a Fed? That's damaging?

My, how low Washington has sunk that people would rather be mistaken for a rioter--indeed, an insurrectionist--than a Fed.

LMAO

Or could it be the fact that the defendants in Epps' civil defamation suit (see the OP article) will be able conduct extensive discovery and depositions of various witnesses, et al.?

"The feds decided to throw Epps under the bus to cover their asses" seems like a far more likely scenario than any "the feds were pressured into doing it because 'Tucker Carlson'" bullshit (especially given the proximate timing of these two stories).

When Tucker tells chuds that you're the enemy, the chuds act on that.

There's something seriously wrong with you if you believe Ray Epps was an actual legitimate Trump supporter.

I don't actually think they're going to prosecute one of their own unless they already know how the trial will go. I think this is going to end up being more of a retirement than a sentencing.

Do they?

More importantly, did they? Have they?

Why do they act? Because they have white supremacy?

Do you expect him to walk into court and tell the judge, I need damages because TheCount told me chuds are going to act, and I'm scared?

Should he get money from Fox for that, or from you?

Yes.

More importantly, did they? Have they?

Yes.

Why do they act? Because they have white supremacy?

Because they have sad, empty lives and playing saturday morning cartoon make believe is the only way that they can find meaning in their existence.

No, he'll probably just list the death threats he's received.

Should he get money from Fox for that

Yes, if proven in a court of law

, or from you?

After seeing the huge money that Dominion got, his lawyers are probably doing this purely on a profit sharing basis, but sure, I'll chip in to crowd fund his lawsuit. Will you join me?
