President Trump has directed the Department of Defense to send 9,500 troops home from Germany, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, which would bring the total stationed there down to 25,000.

A defense official told the Journal the plan, which was ordered by national security adviser Robert O'Brien, has been underway since September and is not related to rising tensions between Trump and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Former acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell, who also served as Trump's ambassador to Germany, has advocated for the reduction of troops in Germany and pushed for Berlin to spend more on its own defense.

Timing seems to be just coincidence, highly unlikely that they are being brought home to be deployed in DC and LA to enforce social distancing, vaccainations or to manage domestic peace amid protests.

Go ahead and post your drivel, it keeps this bumped and exposes you.

at this point? just send them into the states, I dont even see a point to this slow boil. bring it.

Sounds like this flip flopping POS may keep his word this time. If he indeed does bring them home as well as those in Afghanistan the lying scumbag will actually be doing good.

Keep updating us on this Smythy. Hopefully your typing fingers don't get too tired from giving Trump those reach-a-rounds.

Can't fund an empire anymore when no one wants the currency you're floating to support it any more. Trump takes credit for moves made by the global bankers. Orange Jesus is a PR man.

A second senior administration official said the 9,500 troops would be sent elsewhere, some to Poland, some to other allied countries, while some would return home.

So how many are coming home?
This is just a start.
And if the troops that go to other countries replace other troops that would have rotated to those countries then it's still a 9,500 reduction.

If the troops that are being replaced actually come home, then yes I agree it is a start. Tough to get info since the troop movements are hard to verify.

Good. Even if they are reallocated. Our lessened presence in the EU will force the EU to pony up to defend their own borders. Hopefully, that will crush their socialist budgets.

Mr. Trump has frequently hectored allies over weak military spending and other issues such as Iran, and questioned the value of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Allies have complained about not being consulted on major decisions, most recently last month when the Trump administration announced it was withdrawing from the Open Skies Treaty, an accord designed to reduce the risk of war between Russia and the West. Mr. Trump has criticized Germany, Europe’s largest economy, in particular over its failure to reach the alliance’s spending target of 2% of gross domestic product.

NATO and its members have sought to placate Mr. Trump by pledging to meet that target in the future and offering larger contributions to the alliance’s budget, which covers bills such as the cost of utilities at its headquarters in Brussels.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has attributed increased military spending among members to Mr. Trump’s coaxing and frequently praised his leadership.

The alliance held a leaders’ meeting last year, hailed as a success by diplomats largely because Mr. Trump didn’t launch fresh broadsides against allies and even defended the alliance against criticism from French President Emmanuel Macron.

Although the headline does not say troops will be returning home and Trump's top donor (2016 elections) is an Iran war championing alleged Israel Firster, not able to find any recent (post covid-19 eruption) reporting in MSM saying if those troops will be rotated to mideast to defend our closest allies there.

Quite possible that due to ongoing $6 Trillion war against covid-19, any prior plans to defend our mideast allies get scrapped. Just speculation, we may need to wait till all the facts come out.
