Thought experiment: Can You Think Of Anything That'd Be Different under Romney?

I got to thinking about this. If Romney had been elected, can you think of 1 major A) public problem B) social understanding of a particular issue C) Federal govt. policy that would be substantially and/or fundamentally different by now? Or will be fundamentally different in 2016?

The pickings are very slim. There's Obamacare, but Romney invented it and surely would have tried to worm his way through the healthcare issue and make a handout to corporations the way Obama did. And I would strongly disagree that there would not be spying scandals or tax scandals under Romney.

It could shock a lot of people into reality if the Liberty folk work toward having some charts, memes etc. ready for 2015 that reflect how very alike the mainstreams of the two parties, vis-a-vis Presidential politics, are.

Make a little crack at the "alternative history" genre & describe the past 6 months after a Romney win.

I have very little doubt in my mind that federal spending would be significantly higher right now if Romney had won.

I don't think the income taxes on the higher brackets would have been increased. That's really the only thing I can think of.

Remember the 2013 stimulus plan Obama couldn't get passed? Romney would have had something a lot like it, only Romney's would have passed.

Likewise with all the Obama budgets Congress hasn't passed.

And that scenario would have repeated again and again throughout the whole presidential term.

The liberals would be out in force over the NSA scandal and continued drone strikes. Other than that not much.

What about the IRS targeting "consertives"? Do you think he'd be more agressive in blaming the previous administration?

Yes. Limbaugh and Hannity would be glowing about how things are improving and Rachel Maddow would need prozac by now.

That's about it.

The long-lost anti-war movement would suddenly reappear and Sean Hannity would be calling them traitors for disagreeing with the Commander-in-Chief while we're at war.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir would be singing on the Whitehouse lawn come Christmas? Rush Limbaugh would be praising the wonderful 1.5% GDP recovery we're having? Karl Rove would be taking credit for the great Romney victory rather than blaming everyone and their sister for the loss?
