Conway had the backing of the Democratic elite and big donors, but Mongiardo led most of the way in polling — until Conway pummeled him with negative television ads while Mongiardo’s under funded campaign had to sit on the sidelines, hoarding its cash for the final push. Again, Mongiardo lost narrowly.

I can't imagine Rand (up in all polls and certainly favored to win) would go for a blue dog bailout. I'm all for Mongiardo endorsing Rand, but it can't be a quid pro quo deal where the campaign pays off his debt.
