The Repub. Establishment wants a fait accompli

The Republican establishment wants to create the sense in everyone's minds that McCain has this locked up. They are doing this for the perfectly rational reason that the Republicans are weak these days. The Establishment believes that crowning a winner early helps 'unify' the Party. They believe a unified Party has a better chance of beating the Democrats in November.

Therefore, the Republican Establishment will issue press releases, make television interviews, visit talk shows, and do its utmost to rally the party around the winner: McCain. Old media will gladly go along with the farce - for old media is essentially lazy and kow-tows to whoever will give them 'access'.

The reality is that there are many states and many hundreds of 'pledged' delegates which are listed as belonging to McCain, but are still very much up for grabs. To verify this, simply dig into the LA and WA details.

So what is a Paulista to do ?

1) Never forget that this is a long haul - we are trying to return a Party to its core values. In the words of Dr. Paul 'The Republican Party has lost its way' . The Establishment worked very hard to abandon our core values. They'll fight tooth and nail against a change. Don't forget that the Republican Establishment treated Ronald Regean like some batty old guy - until the Regeanauts took over the Party and showed the party hacks the way to victory. (sound familiar ?)

2) Delegates, Delegates, Delgates - get signed up as a delegate at your local level. Check out the way our Texas Paulenteers are succeeding in getting in the door. . Look at the Texas section of this website - you'll see what I mean. Stealth is a powerful weapon.

3) Continue the guerilla marketing efforts even if your states primary is over - Every time I get gas, I place a few slim jims at the pumps. Every time I visit a library I place some literature there. We need to keep getting our message of Freedom, Peace, and Prosperity out. Perhaps less than 1 out of 100 people who pick up a slim jim will check out Dr. Paul on the web - but I'd venture that fully 1/2 of those people who check out Dr. Paul on the web will end up supporting him and his views.

Dr. Paul is a wise and clever politician. He knows exactly where this is going and how to take us there. He is in it for the long haul - we should also be in it for the long haul.

APV - Ron Paul supporter since 1980.
