Real Ron Paul Poll?
Posted by Tex MacRae at October 24, 2007 03:11 PM

Well, isn't this interesting. When the question is "Can you tell me the names of any candidates who are running for the Republican nomination for President in 2008?" 7% offer up Ron Paul's name. The pool is 1,011 and I don't see anything about "likely voters" or anything. 41% could not name ANY Republican candidate.

Kelly Black has some further observations on this poll:

Just a few quick observations on the poll you posted:

-More people are paying attention to news about Iraq than to "the debate in Washington" about Iraq (Q.3.a-b.). In fact, Iraq is the most closely watched news item (Q.4), while the presidential campaign is "dull" (Q.5)and "too long" (Q.6).

The more people pay attention to what's going on, the better off Ron Paul will be when they start paying attention to the debate.

-Fewer people paid attention last week than recently to news about presidential candidates (Q.3.f.). It's not clear who benefits from this.

-The number one subject that voters want more coverage of is the
"candidates' position on issues." Q.4.b.
