I have been watching and contributing to Leo and his crew for six years now on this build.

I'd be lying if I said this didn't bring a tear to my eye.

I picked up when they were casting the floors. Leo is a driven man, cut from a cloth I thought we ran out of long ago.

I think I am going to devote this thread to not just SV Tally Ho, but any other marine related videos that strike my fancy.

Like this:

Sept 2013 on day three of sea trials.

I have the conn at this point, and the blast on the whistle was a warning, as I had just lost all propulsion, after entering a bow thruster command.

It just so happens this women was randomly filming when it happened, but of course, she's not aware of anything wrong.

Thankfully, the Siemens boffins onboard got me back up and running in about 30 seconds.
CaptUSA and acptulsa

All electric vessel, 10,000 HP main gen power and another 1200KW of hotel/equipment load at 480V.

This was the first ship in the US fitted with a Siemens "Blue Drive" system that used low voltage, 660V (yes same as locomotives) variable frequency AC to achieve fine motor control for the propulsion Z drives and B/Ts along with frequency control for "soft starts" and production/pumping motors.

My appointment as a "plankowner" and one of two lead Masters of this vessel, and the subsequent delivery voyage and commissioning was the highlight of a 25 year career running such vessels.
