The First Time You Met Dr. Paul

What did you say? if you haven't met him, what will you say?

I met him the first time this weekend after the speech in Greenville. After waiting for my turn in the huge crowd surrounding him, my time came. He made eye contact with me and all I was star struck...all I could say was "uh....picture?" and pointed to the camera LOL

I'm definitely gonna thank him for all he's doing next time

I said, "Yes, we had our milk delivered when I was a toddler and for 10 years afterward."
He replied, "Well, that was me who delivered it, because my family owned that dairy and I delivered to your neighborhood."

first time

My first time was at a Texas Republican State Convention. I had just worked on getting an anti-offshoring plank in the State Platform and it was added and the platform document was printed. I had noticed that RP was doing a meet-and-greet
in the vendor area and I went there, pointed to the plank in the platform document,
and read it to him.

It said:
"We urge Congress to investigate the issue of outsourcing jobs overseas and U.S. corporations moving their corporate headquarters overseas to avoid taxation, and make corrections to address any identified issues. Additionally, we demand that all government entities be banned from overseas job outsourcing, and that all personal information pertaining to U.S. citizens only be handled by U.S. citizens."

He said "That's a hot-button issue!"

I never met him, but during my last semester of college in January of 2003, I went to CPAC as part of a large group of students from my college. My former political science professor invited me to go even though he knew I was a libertarian. (He's a conservative Republican Catholic priest who has appeared on national news before.) I decided "what the hell? why not." Anyway, we were going around meeting a few Congress critters that for whom I had little respect and I was getting kind of bored. Our next stop was to meet Mike Dewine, the former US senator from Ohio, well known for his opposition to liberty and support of big government. Two of my libertarian-minded friends said to me "let's go try to meet Ron Paul." I wasn't too familiar with DC so I was a little hesitant, but one of those friends had interred in DC before so he knew how to get around.

Anyway, we went to his office and the young lady working there said he wasn't there, but that he was giving a speech in Congress right that moment. So she let us peak inside his office. In his office, the TV was on C-span and he was on there, so we watched for a few minutes but we didn't want to overstay our welcome. (I think it was this speech.) I saw a photo on the wall of Milton and Rose Friedman (the picture from the cover of TWO LUCKY PEOPLE), which was signed by Milton. I also saw the "DON'T STEAL. THE GOVERNMENT HATES COMPETITION" sticker on his desk.

Even though we didn't get to meet him, his office felt like a safe haven for people who value their freedom. It was an oasis in the home of big government, or something corny like that.

In case anyone is wondrering, CPAC sucked.

I met him many years back at a financial conference he arranged in New Hampshire at the Mount Washington Hotel. http://www.nhptv.org/mtwash/mony.htm
This was the hotel where the Bretton Woods Monetary conference was held. It's their claim to fame and the walls are adorned by a huge sludge of traitors to our country.

There were many presenters and I was initially surprised that some of the speakers, not to mention the vast majority of the people in attendance, were not exactly aligned with Ron Paul's beliefs, to say the least. One of the speakers was presenting and started going off about some kind of world order BS and I finally had enough. Much to my Mother's dismay, I raised my hand and made a choice comment.

Later, during a break, Dr. Paul came up to me and patted me on the back and told me he liked my comment. It sure made my day, I can tell you that for sure.

Murray Rothbard was also in attendance and I was lucky enough to sit directly by him for dinner several times. Back then, I didn't even know who he was. Can you believe that? My Mother tried to tell me, but I just didn't fully get it. I do now though.

I met him 6/30 in Des Moines, IA in the Hyvee Hall parking lot around 12:30 pm when he first arrived. I gave him a firm handshake and said "good work".

I met Dr. Paul in June of this year when I was in D.C. for a Lead America program. A friend and I decided to head over to his office in the Cannon building. We walked into his office asked a very nice woman at the desk if we could see Dr. Paul...even though we weren't from his district (let alone state). She went back into an office and when she came out she was with Paul himself. We spoke and got our pictures taken with him and he gave us little pocket Constitutions.

the day i met dr. paul was a day i'll never forget. i was looking forward to weeks when i knew it was going to happen.

my boys (and my oldest son's girlfriend) and i went to the liberty forum in new hampshire which was put on by the free state project this past february. dr. paul was scheduled to speak there on sunday.

but the big deal for me (us) was the fundraiser being held for dr. paul at a supporter's home saturday evening. it was so exciting to know that we would be spending the evening with dr. paul.

i'll never forget looking out the window with anticipation of his arrival. it seemed like forever then all of a sudden there he was coming up the walk with kent snyder. i immediately went over to the door so i could greet him. it was an indescribable feeling to meet my hero!

he truly is the most beautiful man on the planet! - such a gentleman!

we got pics with him, listen to him speak to an eager crowd and got to hang out with him all nite! it was incredible!
