I am currently a Libertarian however I am unhappy with the choices they made for candidates. I have heard that the constitution party is basically the same but with religion thrown in, is this true? If so will they make decisions based on religion and legislate there religious morals?

I need some one to vote for for president.

Chuck Baldwin (the CP nominee) does not want to use the federal government to impose religious values on anyone else. I'm an atheist who normally votes Libertarian and I have no reservations about supporting him.

I would like to refer you to this thread for more information about the Constitution Party and its candidate, Dr. Chuck Baldwin.

It is important to note that a candidate can drastically differ from certain parts of a party platform. The (R) platform ain't all that bad if McCain would stick to it for example. Baldwin has written extensively, it would be wise for people to read what he has written and what he has stood for over the years versus making a quick judgment of the party platform.

Why would Baldwin join the Party if he did not agree with and intend to be judged based on the party?

It is one thing for Paul to to what he did and try to create change within the Republican Party but it is another situation for someone choosing to run in a small third party.

Regardless, I will be looking into him further. Barr is not the candidate for me.

Has Chuck Baldwin (the CONSTITUTION Party nominee) been invited to the CFL Rally in St. Paul, MN?

We really should be unifying our masses against the 2 party Socialist/Fascist Dictatorship parties.

Why would a party put forth a candidate that doesn't follow their platform? That makes no sense at all. All of you disgruntled Libertarians who are grudge voting for Baldwin rather than Barr have brainwashed yourselves! Chuck Baldwin is a minister and the Constitution Party is religious. It's a Christain Party. I have no problem with it...but just be honest. I admire them for standing up for their faith...but it IS a Christian Party and they hold the Bible as their moral compass...(but I like them for it) They are mixing church and state..definately. TONES

Been wondering the same thing myself.

So why exactly DID the Libertarian Party pick Bob Barr?

Can we please now admit that the main reason many people here won't vote for Baldwin is because of his religion and his occupation?

Bob Barr had a change of worldview. That CAN and DOES happen. I am proof of it. I was a full blown republican a year ago. My worldview has gone 180. NObody..and I do mean NOBODY is going to have the kind of voting record Ron Paul has. Baldwin has NO voting record at all. HardHEADED people! Now, it may very well be true that some people won't vote for Baldwin because they don't like mixing religion with government. That IS a libertarian principle. Ron Paul sure didn't do it did he? Didn't he say he was not comfortable talking about his faith? Didn't he speak about issues? He is a libertarian and also a Christian...he keeps them separated. The Constitution Party does not and some people are not ok with that. For myself, it doesn't bother me. I am voting for Bob Barr because he is very much the same as Ron Paul and he has the best chance to get the LP up the political ladder. SHEESH..I feel like a dang parrot! (where are my crackers....) TONES

Baldwin wants to mix religion and government no more than Barr.

Ron Paul mentions his faith. Remember the whole discussion about the Christian Doctrine of Just War?

Chuck is a man of integrity and had the courage to come out and endorse Paul early. Why? Because he was not ashamed to cast his lot with a man who mirrored his own positions. He was not waiting around to see if the message was going to be popular. He believes the message of freedom because its right, not because its popular.

The fact that Chuck is a Christian should not bother anybody, unless you just hate Christians. He is not looking to force his religion on anybody. He's not trying to make you Baptist through politics. There is no intention of theocracy. That is just hysterical talk designed to smear.

The man believes in and preaches the freedom message. He was against the Patriot Act from the get go, he is opposed to the Federal reserve etc. He is a true believer in the message, not a recent convert.

Its true the man has a moral compass. Good. Because very few in Washington do and we could use someone who does. Besides the vast majority of voters would sooner vote for a man with a moral compass than somebody who has none. They just need to hear about Chuck.

He has said many times that in spite of all the little issues that divide us the most important issue is our National Sovereignty. If we lose that then we have no basis to even discuss the other issues, because it will no longer be up to us, the discussion and final decision on any issue would be farmed out to some far away world government bureaucrat .

I would say that Ron Paul has a moral compass as well. He may not stand in a pulpit and preach on Sunday but you can see it in all his writings and also in the way he lives his life.

Same as Chuck.

Chuck and RP are very similar. I'll be voting for Chuck.

Baldwin wants to impose his values in a number of ways, including gaming (even poker) and other issues of morality.
