The Best Thing about the Ron Paul Campaign

The best thing about the Ron Paul campaign is that it reveals people for who they really are. Over the past 25 years, we've (or at least those of us that are old enough) heard all sorts of people talk about free markets, individual liberty, limited government and the Constitution. What Ron Paul's presence does is reveal the phonies and frauds most of these people are. On talk radio, Limbaugh, Hannity, Boortz, et al. are all lining up behind the neocons. While a couple congressman have said nice things about Paul (Reps. Duncan and Jones(NC)), none have endorsed him. How about the so-called Reagan conservatives like Paul Weyrich and Phyllis Schlafly? What about the "Revolutionaries from 1994"? Armey, Gingrich, and Scarborough are all opposed to Ron Paul. What about the Cato institue, the "premier libertarian think-tank in D.C.". While I understand that they don't and can't endorse candidates, I've heard Cato people promoting the likes of Dick Armey, Jeff Flake and Mike Pence. David Boaz was on Glenn Beck's show saying he didn't agree with a lot of Ron Paul's positions. Most of the Christian conservative movement cares more about Israel, war, torture and constitutional amendments than they do about individual liberty. Last but not least are the so-called free-market capitalists like Steve Forbes, Larry Kudlow, Wall Street Journal and the Club for Growth. While Kudlow's been decent lately, they are all dismissive of Ron Paul. The worst thing about all of this is that the aformentioned groups are supposed to be supportive of what Ron Paul has stood for.

Some of these may come around yet. I think Phyllis Schafly in particular has much respect for Ron Paul but sticks on free trade. Interesting that after 11/5 her first column (on 11/7) had to do with protectionism. Her Eagle Forum is not endorsing anybody at this time.

Many others are CFR shills.
