Seems ominous. He switches and the Democrats now have 60 votes in the Senate. They're unstoppable, assuming they have a hive mind.
What? As if the R next to his name prevented him from stopping filibusters?
"I am not prepared to have my 29-year record in the United States Senate decided by the Republican primary electorate, not prepared to have that record decided by that jury," Sen. Arlen Specter said
That pretty much says it all right there. He switched from D to R when it was convenient for him earlier in his power journey. He'll switch back when it's convenient for him.
That could make a PA resident want to switch to D just to vote against him in the primary.
... which of course makes me wonder if he'll have opposition in the Democratic Primary. It would be very telling if he does not.
What difference does it make? Specter and McCain had already put the D total at the magic sixty, with or without either one being honest about it. And I think they have a few more we aren't mentioning, too.
do not hate arlen ,hate the gop that caused the defection and i can tell you he is not the last if the gop continues down this pathetic path!!
