Hey everyone:

I just got off the phone with the County GOP Chair. He shared some things with me that I wanted to relay. I want to stress that though I was at Paulapalooza, I was not in attendance at the actual debate. If you were down at the debate and have a factual account of it, please feel free to post it.

Here is what he said:

As people entered the debate, there were a number of Ron Paul supporters who were yelling and screaming at the people who walked in. They were shoving signs in people's faces (especially Guilianni supporters). Quite frankly, he said, after these debate attendees entered into the debate seating area, they had already had enough of Ron Paul and the beratement they had received. In his opinion, this was largely responsible for the cantankerous mood that resulted in Ron Paul being boo'd during the debate.

On a personal note, I would like to add that when we represent Ron Paul, we should conduct ourselves in a manner that he would approve of.

Thank you for your time. Let us be professional, thoughtful, balanced and follow through.

Not that I fully believe what County GOP Chair says but I agree on that notion that we should always conduct ourselves in a manner that is deemed appropriate.

don't really think that alone was the issue, but an excuse :D

I didn't even know any supporters were outside there, I thought we were all downtown.
The police there downtown all seemed to be interested, polite, and not any problems with us or them. (note: the police did NOT accept any material as they were on duty, so you GOP officials looking to report some police can log off, they followed the rules!)

These my be the same people complaining about signs in people's yards? i mean come on it is someone's property if they want to put a sign they can!

He wanted you to think Paul deserved it. That his supporters where to blame. I'm not buying that. The people who booed did so because they want endless war not because Paul has vocal and motivated supporters.

I agree. Paul has supporters from all walks of life and Republicans, in general, are not accustom to being around the in your face, rabid types.

well considering only 20 people booed Ron Paul and were all Giulliani supporters (reported by people at the actual debate)...I think this guy is BSing

What makes you have any doubt? Unless you were at the doors watching all the Ron Paul supporters walk in nicely, do we have any reason to not believe him?

There are some supporters who go way overboard.

agree fully. But I can tell you what was downtown was not disorderly or rude. I can't speak for what happened at the debate center, but what was downtown was quite alright.

Being vocal, to them, is being rude if you're a RP supporter.

Shouting "VOTE 4 MITT" will be considered okay, however.

These people are full of shit, just like that Ed Failure guy.

Lets just not give them reasons to continue marginalizing us - we can make it easy or hard for them its our choice. Nothing wrong with enthusiasm but death stares and poking yoru sign in someones face is prob just gonna help their cause...

This sounds totally fake. I think the supporters were doing their usual thing, and the County Chair wildly misinterpreted it as hostile acts.

The more realistic scenario is what Ron Paul said, he didn't get a lot of tickets, so most of the audience were neo-con sympathizers.

hmmm... I am not sure where to go on this.. I almost 'feel' as if 'these people' were "real" ron paul supporters they would of never done that. I have ALWAYS seen Ron Paul supporters as very polite and respectful.

There was an instance that somenoe posted in which a ronpaul supporter was yelling at clinton supporters... even after he was asked to stop.. to me, that smells of "plant"..... this is a great tactic to turn people off!

when you find these people - ask around, you will find that are "not with anybody" and nobody has seen them before...

Lets just say:

Yes, I was there. Do you believe me? Do you also believe me that I fly to work everyday?

The gentlemen who told me this, likes a lot of what Ron Paul stands for. Our meetup groups interaction here has also helped to put a professional and respectful face on Ron Paul supporters for those here locally.

While I must stress (because of my own desires to be as accurate as possible) that this is second hand information, I have no indication that this a falsified account.

Remember, Florida is in a weird place. We are presently 3/4's disenfranchised (No Dem. delegates, and only 1/2 GOP delegates).

Use areas that 80% of people will agree on (Do you want lower taxes?, Do you want a more constitutional government, etc) If you can get a person to agree with you 2 or 3 times, they are more likely to continue to listen and then check out www.ronpaul2008.com.

If you approach them on a subject that only 10-25% will agree on, you reduce your chances to effectively communicate with them.

If there are any people that were right outside the debate area, etc that can give a first hand account then great, lets hear it.

we had a few there, I will be meeting one tomorrow and directly ask this question.

Vocal and Rude are both opinions determined by whomever is making the accusation. We could stand around quietly with signs and the same people will think we are Rude. We might as well get our message heard by any means necessary.

How do you know they were ron paul supporters, could have easily been people acting like ron paul supporters, aka rudy/thompson neo-cons pretending to be ron paul supporters?

It's hearsay
