Small Towns 'Launching Their Own Currencies'

Hmm that's interesting. If some city made a new currency how would they be taxed by the country/state?

To the UK? Where guns are illegal? Where socialism is a way of life? Where there is one camera for every 4 citizens and some of them have loudspeakers so that government bureacrats can yell at citizens who step out of line? Where uttering the words "down with the qeen" is a jailable offense?

Should I go on?

How can you have socialism where the currency is not state controlled?

After further reading though, the competing currency is backed by the Pound Sterling and not gold or any other hard commodity so it is doomed for failure. It is nice to know though that you can have dual currencies in England and not have the FBI and Secret Service kicking your door down for counterfe$ting. That's more than I can say for the US.

It's a start anywho!
