Russian troops greeted with flowers and beer by North Ossetians

I wish I could figure out this Ossetia thing. Why did south Ossetia want independence from Georgia? Why was Georgia willing to fight a war to prevent it from happening? I have not been able to get an explanation for all this.

From what I've read it appears that Russia wants Georgia back for oil reasons and so they started dumping huge amounts of cash and propaganda on the South Ossetians to increase tensions with Georgia. It appears that it all came to a head last month when Georgia attacked giving the Russians an excuse to invade Georgia.

I've never seen the case laid out like that anywhere, but from the bits and pieces I have gathered from news sources around the world make it appears that is what happened. With all the propaganda flying around on all sides we will probably not know the truth for a long time.

I agree with you, ChickenHawk-there is still much to be settled. Just remember to be weary of what any neo-con tells ya! ;)

CLIFFNOTES: Simple summary of what Georgian War is really about.

Here's a simple summary of what Georgian War was all about

Early 1990's: Soviet Union disintegrates. Former Republics , Georgia included, emerge as new nations. The former Soviet Republic of South Ossetia (linked administrativly to Georgia by Georgian born Stalin) declares independence. South Ossetians speak Russian and their Northern Ossetian brothers are part of Russia proper. Georgia wants to keep the Ossetian region AGAINST THE WILL OF 95% OF THE OSSETIANS.

Mid 1990's: The drunken buffoon Boris Yeltsin sells out Russia to western backed oligarchs. State owned industries are purchased for a fraction of what they are worth. On the backs of the Russian people, Neo-con linked Oligarchs become overnight billionaires with growing influence over Russian media and politics.

Late 1990's: Yeltsin does one thing right. He supports Putin as his successor. Oligarchs back Putin as well, thinking they can control him like they did Yeltsin.

Early 2000's: Putin roots out corruption. Oligarchs thrown in jail or escape to Israel and UK to wage war on Russia from the outside. Economy improves and Russia no longer has to kneel in shame before the west. US globalists fear that a strong Russia may ruin their long awaited plans to absorb Eurasia into a regional government, and then a one world government. The New World Order gang wants total control of Eurasia's resources.

2004-2004: American-Jewish Billionaire George Soros funds "human rights" groups and CIA stooges that carry out "peaceful" overthrows of russian friendly governments in Georgia and Ukraine. USA and Israel begin arming Georgia to the teeth. During this time, a slow anti-Putin drip campaign is waged by the western media. Putin is falsely accused of poisoning political opponents and oppressing "human rights".

2005-2006: CIA/Mossad agent Gary Kasparov is set up to stage a phony "democratic" revolution in Russia. But Russians are too smart and can smell Kasparov's bullshit. Putin is loved in Russia. His approval ratings are shy high. Russia now has no debt and monthly incomes have risen 150% under Putin!!!!! In real dollars too. Real dollars means adjusted for inflation.

2008: On the eve of the Olympics, the Georgian puppet murders 1500 Ossetian civilians (who are Russian citizens by choice!) as they sleep. Russian troops come to the rescue and drive out the US & Georgian attack dogs. Incredibly, Western media blames Russia and proceeds to rearm Georgia under cover of "humanitarian aid." The Ukrainian puppet steps up his threats against Russia.

That summary has big gaps and leaves tons of questions. Also, it is absolutely dripping with pro Putin and anti-Jew bias.

The reason why people are suspicious because of Jews is justifiable suspicion of them being Zionists (as MOST Jews are). ITs not biased at all.

max, i can confirm your summary as russian.
S. Ossetia and Abkhazia was historically independent from Georgia before Joseph Stalin (his actual name is Joseph Jughashvili) tied them. When USSR broken up, most of it's republics became sovereign nations but of course Georgian administration didn't want to lose territories they gained during the soviet period.

A Ron Paul fan in Russia...welcome!

Give my regards to Mr. Putin. Tell him to just take Tbilisi and put that rat bastard Suckashvilli's neck in a noose.

The West wont do anything more than whine.

Ron Paul is an international scale hero. Me and my friends strongly support him. Too bad we can't actually help your movement while being russians :(

Speaking of this conflict, i think that it won't escalate any further. Although i hope that Saakashvili's time will come soon. He must be executed by International Tribunal of Hague.

Just as Russia does not wish for Chechnya to leave. Georgia and Russia are both guilty of trying to squash would-be serpatist states. The difference being that Russia has a more powerful military that Georgia.

Putin is no Ron Paul. He does not believe in small government or free markets or non-intervention in other countries or the right of the people to make their own decisions.

Putin is no Ron Paul.
:D Of course not.
As well as russian constitution is no like american. Ron Paul just can't exist in Russia. You guys are lucky to have such a constitution.

EDIT:
Just as Russia does not wish for Chechnya to leave. Georgia and Russia are both guilty of trying to squash would-be serpatist states. The difference being that Russia has a more powerful military that Georgia.

Yes, these situations are very similar. There is one difference though. Chechnya became a part of Russia by their own will in 19 century.
