Russia Blocks European Leaders from Georgia Airports

President George W. Bush dispatched Navy ships and Air Force planes to deliver aid to war-torn Georgia, bringing a dose of Cold War-style brinksmanship to the confrontation between the U.S. and Russia.

The move, which marked a sudden shift in the U.S. response to the crisis, put U.S. and Russian military forces in close proximity amid an ongoing conflict -- a rare event even in the decades when the U.S. faced off against the Soviet Union around the world.

Sounds like I heard something similar before.

Keep an eye on Ukraine. Blocking the Russian fleet movement, without notice, from there and Russia is saying nope.

A military pilot ignored an order by Poland's President Lech Kaczynski who demanded to be flown to to the Georgian capital Tibilisi amid Russian control of Georgian air space, German news reports said Wednesday.

Kaczynski who was on his way to a solidarity meeting with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili in Tbilis, made a stopover on the Ukrainian Crimea peninsula on Tuesday.

The Polish president ordered the pilot to fly directly to Tbilisi, however the pilot refused the request, pointing out that Georgia's air space was under Russian control.

The pilot argued that he was in charge of the passengers' safety on the aircraft despite Kaczynski's protests.

The president eventually relented and the pilot flew to Azerbaijan from where Kaczynski was forced to embark on a four-hour road trip to Tbilisi.

That would have been a suicide mission. I don't know anything about Kaczynki, but that seems a bit too far fetched- unless a)the Russians are favorable towards Kaczynki, or b) he was on a death mission, "sponsored by" God only knows, or c) Russian don't "really" have "control" of "Georgian" air space

I guess it is possible the "report" is complete rubbish as well.
