The phone answerer likely is the person who screens calls and directs them to other "specialists" (my term) to deal with. He might have had other calls coming in, etc., & wanted to hurry you along. There are nice ways to do that, though. Don't take him personally, I say!
If you really want to help the R. Paul cause, you might send a hard copy letter to him--there is no t any way he can know what goes on in his office unless someone tells him--regarding the brash treatment you got.
Also, it sometimes helps to start your conversation with, "I'm calling with a suggestion that everyone thinks is great. With whom do I need to speak about it, please? Or, even better, first words out of your mouth, "I know you're really busy, but I'll appreciate your help very much. I have a suggestion. . . ."
