Rude and uninformed guy answering phones at RP's D.C. Office

I called in with a suggestion to RP's D.C. office today and got a totally rude, non-interactive, and uninformed person on the other end of the line.

Anybody else run in to this problem? Reflects poorly on Dr. Paul.

Every time I have called there (on official business) I am immediately put on hold for 3-4 minutes. I dont know if they are that busy, or are tracing my call

But kudos to Rachel Mills for helping me get Ron on the Phil Valentine show yesterday.

The phone answerer likely is the person who screens calls and directs them to other "specialists" (my term) to deal with. He might have had other calls coming in, etc., & wanted to hurry you along. There are nice ways to do that, though. Don't take him personally, I say!

If you really want to help the R. Paul cause, you might send a hard copy letter to him--there is no t any way he can know what goes on in his office unless someone tells him--regarding the brash treatment you got.

Also, it sometimes helps to start your conversation with, "I'm calling with a suggestion that everyone thinks is great. With whom do I need to speak about it, please? Or, even better, first words out of your mouth, "I know you're really busy, but I'll appreciate your help very much. I have a suggestion. . . ."

I've found it helpful to start out with this kind of acknowledgment of the office person: "I'm sure you're really busy, and I'll appreciate your help. I have a suggestion that everyone likes. Who do I need to talk to about it, please?"

The phone answerer likely screens calls, and passes them on to other "specialists" to deal with. S/he might be a quite overwhelmed worker at times. Nonetheless, there are polite ways to hurry a caller along!!

How'd the convo actually go down?

When I asked if there was any way an idea could possibly reach the Congressman, the guy said "Yes. How many times do you want me to repeat myself? Shall I repeat it 10 more times for you?"He made a claim about RP's position on my idea and when I asked him where he had heard it he copped this really dis-interested and condescending tone and repeated twice "I don't know, I don't know......" I may have repeated myself once but only because the guy was so non-interactive that I thought perhaps he wasn't understanding me.

Really unhelpful and mean-spirited and way rude.

My idea was that RP could suggest as a counter attack that any liquidity infusions might just as well start in the hands of the public, which would work its way quickly through the healthy banks making them flush with cash and liquidity, while letting the insolvent banks fail.

Well that's government for you. And even Ron Paul acknowledges it... hence the emphasis on grassroots and NOT the campaign.

I've called several times over the years. They've always been very nice and helpful to me. MUCH more so than my own Congressman's office, in fact.
