Every day MTV has a show called Total Request Live and the camera is always panning down to an audience of people screaming outside the window in Times Square. If any of you live in that general vicinity, it could be awesome advertising on a major network 5 days a week. What do you all think?

The NY Meetup group was, um, "dissuaded" from activities there by the police which consider Times Square off limits for free speech. :(

I was seriously thinking of that last night!!!! I was going to contact some New York Meetup groups and see if they have done that already

Doesn't mean they should stop trying. All you gotta do is get a poster board and write "I love Parris Hilton - Ron Paul R[eovl]ution"

The key is be creative! Don't be so blunt or else they wont let you do it.

Who cares what the beat cops say.

Let them arrest you for doing what everyone else is doing and then make a big deal over it.
It's about time this limiting of speech is taken before the courts all the way to the top.

If this were my meetup group so many people would be fired up to go out there. I would be out there by myself with duct tape on my mouth holding a sign that says "Ron Paul 2008." Even if you did get arrested there is no way you could get in trouble in court. Every day there are people in that crowd with signs, how can a Ron Paul 2008 sign get you arrested?

I know 85% of the people on here are going to flame me for this idea, but seriously... Talk to the ACLU. This is EXACTLY the type of thing they are good at doing. They have enough money and lawyers to scare the pud out of any government.

They just helped the liberty movement in NH by overturning a demand by a town government for a million dollar insurance policy to hold a "Live Free or Die" festival. They threatened to suit the town and the town backed down. I know NY is larger, but that only means that it will be a larger news story.

Get a bunch of people each wearing a T-shirt with one large letter (R, O, N, etc.). Approach from all directions and meet at a specified time ala "flash mob" to spell out a message for the cameras and public (e.g. RONPAUL2008.com or GOGGLE RON PAUL).

Don't forget that Good Morning America's weatherman is always out on the street with a crowd of people.

Looks like the NYC meetup group has some work to do. They have 748 members, I think they could easily pull something spectacular off.
